MADRID (Reuters) -Spanish pharmaceuticals company Rovi announced on Monday that it will start making the active ingredients for Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine.
Rovi will have capacity to supply the active agents for up to 100 million vaccine doses a year at its plant in Granada via a new production line.
This would be the first European drug ingredients production site for Moderna outside of Switzerland, where Lonza has one large commercial production line now manufacturing drug substances and another two commercial lines nearing completion.

UPDATE 1-Spain's Opdenergy aims to raise 400 mln euros in IPO

(Adds detail, background)
MADRID, April 8 (Reuters) - Spanish renewable energy company Opdenergy will seek to raise 400 million euros ($474.8 million) in a stock market listing to finance new solar and wind power projects, it said on Thursday.
Rising demand for environment-friendly investments has prompted companies to explore investor appetite for Spain’s under-exploited solar sector and more established wind power industry.
Interest is being spurred by government targets in line with international requirements to decarbonise economies and slow climate change.
Heavyweights Acciona and Repsol are working on spinning off their low-carbon energy businesses, with the former deciding to sell shares publicly while the latter is considering an IPO or a private stake sale.

Elena de Borbon and her sister Cristina visited former king Juan Carlos who has been in the United Arab Emirates since leaving Spain in August under a cloud of scandal.
“These women don’t have any right to privileges that the rest of us don’t have,” said Ricardo Jimenez, out walking by the royal palace in Madrid. “I have the same right as them, or more, to be vaccinated.”

By Reuters Staff
(Adds background, details on financial aid)
MADRID, Feb 15 (Reuters) - Spain plans to approve a new aid package to bolster the finances of companies hit by the coronavirus pandemic in March, Economy Minister Nadia Calvino told reporters in Brussels on Monday.
The package will take the form of direct payments to companies considered viable but which are struggling financially because of the pandemic, Calvino said.
“What we are doing is trying to identify those companies that were fundamentally viable before the pandemic hit and whose solvency has been weakened as a result of the sharp drop in activity,” she said.
