[applause] my name is justin desmangles. I am the chair of the before Columbus Foundation. About eight years ago i proceeded in that position, our founder, ishmael reed, we are very fortunate to have with us joining the program today. There were some very big shoes to fill. Of course, i want to thank our friends at the San Francisco jazz center who had been so generous in their support of the american book awards for the last several years. Also our friend at cspan who continue to support the Historical Mission of the before Columbus Foundation and american book awards. I will say a few things about our direction that we embarked on recently. Over the past several years we have expanded our programming to include a number of partnerships in the bay area and nationally, including those with the San Francisco Public Library who i am very honored to say, one of the representatives, stuart shaw who has been instrumental facilitating the collaboration between the before Columbus Foundation

They spent nearly 214 for each vote he received here. The florida senator has yet to win a caucus or primary in the intense race. The candidate everyone is gunning for right now, donald trump launched 5500 adds ads in january. Worth about 1. 8 million. The outspoken businessman came in second in iowa with just 6200 votes separating him and ted cruz. The register also broke down spending among the documents for the delegate democrats democrat for the edelegates they received. Thats 11100 per delegate vote. Now. Heres a look the democrat total delegate count. Commanding lead. The former secretary of state has more than 500 delegates. Vermont senator Bernie Sanders has. Taking a look at republican delegate count, trump has 81 delegates. Right now rubio and cruz each have 17. But 11 states will hand out 595 delegates

You cant explain the American Healthcare system in an hour and at that time i said to myself wouldnt it be nice if there were 250 page book i could just give to someone that would explain the system. And when you look out there there is no such book and i always figured the reason is if youre a tenured professor or Health Policy person, its beneath you to write the book explaining the system. And if you are not on ten year trying to get tenure, you will never get it. So i wanted to fill that void. Then once i got into writing the book i begin to think began to think it sets up a platform for whats going to happen. Why dont i start making predictions about the
