Sean Penn has done over the last decade or so, starting with a mission to bring food, medical care and other help to the people of Haiti after a powerful earthquake devastated the Caribbean nation in 2010.
The film focuses on Penn’s work with the non-profit he co-founded, CORE, which originally was called J/P Haitian Relief Organization, and its various charitable initiatives.  Those include its recent campaigns organizing COVID-19 testing sites across the U.S. and running the country’s largest vaccine site at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium.

LAS VEGAS, March 11, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- ORORO Heated Apparel, in partnership with CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort), has donated hundreds of heated vests to the organization's nationwide COVID-19 relief efforts, inclusive of providing vaccinations, testing and essential resource coordination.
CORE, co-founded by Sean Penn and Ann Lee, is a crisis relief nonprofit dedicated to providing support and essential resources to marginalized and vulnerable communities impacted by or vulnerable to crisis. Since March of 2020, the organization has been providing free COVID-19 relief services in the United States and Haiti, specifically targeting marginalized and vulnerable communities.

Sean Penn Sends Furious Email to COVID-Vaccine-Site Staffers

Sean Penn Sends Furious Email to COVID-Vaccine-Site Staffers
Madeleine Aggeler
According to a new report from the Los Angeles
Times, on Friday night, employees of the nonprofit Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE) opened their emails to find a 2,000-plus-word email from the organization’s founder, actor Sean Penn. In it, Penn excoriated two staffers who had commented on a New York
Times article about the massive COVID-vaccination effort at L.A.’s Dodger Stadium.
CORE has been assisting at the vaccination site, and according to the two
Times commenters — one of whom described themselves as “CORE staff” — employees have been forced to work 18-hour days, six days a week, “without the opportunity to take breaks.”

Sean Penn writes scathing letter to COVID vaccine site staff

In New Orleans, Sean Penn lifted people out of Hurricane Katrina’s floodwaters, traversing the swamped city in a boat. A few years later after the earthquake in Haiti, there he was, hauling heavy bags on his own shoulders alongside locals.
Now, the two-time Oscar-winning actor and disaster relief philanthropist is deploying his organization’s army of volunteers and staff at COVID-19 vaccine sites in Los Angeles and testing sites across the U.S., earning praise for taking action when the government came up short.
But not everyone is so enchanted, namely two people who claim to work for Penn’s nonprofit, Community Organized Relief Effort, which is assisting the city of Los Angeles at the Dodger Stadium mass vaccination site. Penn, in turn, is seething.

in haiti you'd think by now we wouldn't be seeing senseless deaths in haiti, preventable deaths. but this is the story of just that. this 15-year-old boy died of a highly contagious disease that doesn't have to be deadly. on monday morning, his parents brought him to sean penn's relief camp in port-au-prince. he was dangerously ill, sick for days with a sore throat. he had diphtheria, highly contagious. he needed an anti-toxin to survive. it's stockpiled in america, but as penn's team learned, searching the city no one could locate the treatment. he called dr. sanjay gupta. the cdc managed to turn up a few doses. it wasn't enough. the boy died last night. without vaccinations and medication, thousands more could be at risk. keeping them honest tonight. earlier i spoke with sean penn, founder of the j.p. haitian relief organization and cnn chief medical correspondent dr. sanjay gupta.
