kaifs. president george w. bush did eventually let his focus shift. he wandered off to a second war in iraq before getting bin laden or omar for that matter. in 2006 george w. bush closed the cia unit whose mission was to capture osama bin laden. two years after that, presidential candidate barack obama told voters who would start that hunt again. >> we will kill bin laden. we will crush al qaeda. that has to be our biggest national security priority. >> finally on the night of sunday 21st april 2011 he announced he had done it that navy s.e.a.l.s had shot osama bin laden dead and dropped his body into the sea. there was dancing in the steets. there was ringing of hands that -- wringing of hands that there was dancing in the streets. osama bin laden was dead. now that osama bin laden is dead, the barrier to omar and the taliban, omar the leader of

family researchers like glenn stanton. >> it's not just about body parts or what clothes we would choose or the colors we like. it's really about science and science is telling us that there's a male and female brain. >> reporter: kathy and her husband david are keeping baby storm's gender a secret. they say the only people who know whether storm is a boy or a girl are one family friend and storm's older brothers, jazz, 5, and kio, 2. >> according to his parents, shortly after his birth this family sent out an e hail. we decided not to share storm's sex for now, a tribute to freedom and choice in place of elimination. raising children less traditionally based on gender has parents abuzz. >> one woman says, for me the goal isn't to remove gender from the equation, it's so support my son making his own decisions about his identity. but while many support the idea

she was going to protect the people from this district against the special interests. jane corwin didn't do that. that's why we have a victory here tonight. >> what do you say about the tea party candidate? was that candidate the tea partier jack davis, was he the spoiler in all of this for the republicans and is that why hochul has won? what about that? >> no. i just think jack petered out. you know, he held the attention of the public for a while attacking both political parties. that resonated somewhat but in the end he couldn't make the case. they wanted somebody who made it clear they were going to protect working class families and protect seniors against medicare cuts. protect social security against people who wanted to come in and privatize it. kathy made that argument. she did it beautifully. and tonight she is going to congress. >> leonard, do me a favor and get kathy hochul for us on there tonight. we want to talk to her before the broadcast is over tonight

great public servant she was a perfect candidate. she understands people. jane corwin has had to be told from day to day, you know, what position to take, what to do. every day a change. with kathy she was consistent. she stayed on the message and that was simple. let's protect working families against the paul ryan budget. tonight she has been rewarded for that how much money came into this district supporting corwin versus the winner tonight, kathy hochul? give us the landscape of that. >> i would say, ed, $8 million to $9 million was spent against kathy. she didn't spend 25% of that. she was outspent 3 or 4-1,ç probably 4-1. she had enough to get her message across. she had the right message. she had the right views and was the right person for this job. the main job of a congress person is the people look to their congress person to protect them against special interests and kathy hochul made it clear

third party candidate ran on the tea party line this time has run for congress twice in the last two elections as a democrat. so he drew off, we're quite sure, quite a few democratic votes potentially, and to say -- i think that kathy probably would have won this race head-to-head and that the third party candidate's not really so much of a factor. but the bottom line is that this race was decided because the voters of new york 26 and voters across this country do not want republicans to end medicare as we know t they want to make sure that we can address our long-term deficit needs by, as the president suggested, sitting down around the table, working how we can strike the right balance so we are not balancing, as kathy said last night in her victory speech, all the pain and all the hurt on the backs of our seniors. and so this is a very strong message that was sent not just in new york 26 but was sent last week boy voters injacksonville, florida who haven't elected a democratic mayor in more than 20 years that cuts to medicare and ending medicare is unacceptable
