Africa is finally 'in the house' - New African Magazine

Moky Makura.
When my son was younger, he told me about his dream car – a Porsche Cayenne and how he wanted me to buy one. On the short drive to school almost every day we would compete to see who could spot the most Cayennes, and there would be at least three or four every time. Until we started playing that game, I had never noticed even one, but pretty soon they were everywhere.
The point of this story is not about the number of Porsche drivers on the continent – a fact that may surprise a few readers, but that until I paid attention, I simply didn’t see what was right there under my nose.

The ad/music video from my childhood that stays with me…
Anything from Spike Jonze will do here, each skate film, music video or ad is a masterpiece in itself. I love how visual and experimental all his work has always been.
If I had to pick one it would be a music video he did for the band Wax. It shows how a simple visual idea (not simple to execute) can turn into something so mesmerising:

Nigerian artist Laolu uses African celebrities as his canvas for malaria awareness campaign

Written by Earl Nurse, CNN
When Laolu Senbanjo received an email requesting him to work with Beyoncé, he thought it was a scam.
"The Nigerian in me was just thinking it's just one of those emails," the 38-year-old recalls. "I wanted to know what the catch was and when they would ask me to pay some money." Eventually, he did respond -- and ended up with a job doing body art for Beyoncé's 2016 visual album "Lemonade."
Having recently relocated from Nigeria to New York City to pursue his passion, this was the biggest break of his career.
