on march 28th, 1984, and that's one of the worst outbreaks in north carolina history. we are concerned about the threat of more severe weather. not in the carolinas just yet, but this time of the year, the atmosphere is very volatile in the spring months and we're getting the storm system that's going to move in and likely bring that severe weather threat, we think, to the nation's midsection. a moderate risk already issued, this is for tomorrow, not today, that includes you in st. louis, indianapolis, towards louisville, slight risk from chicago to pittsburgh to nashville all the way down towards shreveport. today we have what we call zonal flow and that's just a flat jet stream that brings storms from west to east across the nation's mid-section there. it's cold enough we're seeing snow this morning in places like milwaukee and into detroit. that's a pretty weak weather system. we'll watch this thing kind of spin off a little bit for tomorrow. we'll watch for that threat of more tornadoes. the thing that concerns me, especially about tomorrow, is that a lot of these storms are going to come after dark.

bringing in a little snowfall. lighter rains and general thunderstorms in through st. louis. here's the bull's eye. there's the red. mississippi, alabama, will be the target, i believe, this afternoon for severe weather that will include lots of wind, hail, thunder and lightning and the possibility of seeing tornadoes fairly slow moving system that will eventually be across the entire southeast by early saturday morning and then the northern part of this will get into the northeast saturday night. by that point, most of the severe weather threat will be over. but the next 12 to 18 hours, guys, going to be on the dangerous side. we'll keep you posted throughout the morning. >> we will. thanks, rob. so we have one budget battle down, but the house and the senate still have some work to do. but let's just celebrate what they were able to do. they approved the deal struck between the president and congressional leaders last weekend, the one that just got in before the deadline that would have shut the government down. but about a quarter of house republicans and more than half of democrats oppose the deal. the republican house meantime is

courage campaign's groups. it shows louis marinelli sitting on a bench when someone from the courage campaign approached. this is one of the moments that began to change the mind of conservative republican activist louis marinelli about the fight he was fighting, before he ultimately changed sides. along with today's letter written for the courage campaign, louis has published a post on his own personal blog recounting how he felt by the end of last summer's bus tour. even though i had been confronted by the protesters throughout the marriage tour, the lesbian and gay people whom i made a profession out of opposing became real people for me almost instantly. for the first time i had empathy for them and asked myself what i was doing. he's rewritten his understanding of the issue of gay marriage. he actually listened to his opponents and changed his mind.
