LONDON – Spanish low-cost carrier Volotea (V7) is gearing up to be one of the main protagonists of summer 2021 with cutting-edge managerial choices that demonstrate the carrier’s development toward being a point of reference in Italy and beyond. According to Valeria Rebasti, Commercial Country Manager Italy & Southeastern Europe of V7, “one of the company’s strengths was to entirely change its network from international to domestic, managing to avoid economic losses and totaling one of the greatest load factors in the period of the pandemic.” Volotea has bases in Greece, Spain, Italy, and France, with the latter two serving as the carrier’s strong points.
LONDON – Volotea (V7) has announced, via a press release, new investments in Verona (VRN) today. In fact, four Airbus A320 will be delivered to VRN, allowing the low-cost carrier to expand its capacity. The company, which opened its first operational base in VRN in 2015, will base a minimum of four aircraft on the airport during peak traffic periods, increasing the number of available seats by 4% and 43%, respectively, compared to the summers of 2019 and 2020. Photo: Alberto Cucini/Airways Verona Summer Schedule The business will debut in Verona in Summer 2021 with a total of 21 routes, 10 domestic (Alghero, Bari, Cagliari, Catania, Lamezia Terme, Lampedusa, Naples, Olbia, Palermo, Pantelleria) and 11 international (Athens, Crete, Mykonos, Preveza / Lefkada, Santorini, Zakynthos in Greece, Ibiza, Menorca and Palma de Mallorca in Spain, Cork in Ireland and Malta).

Photo: Marco Macca – @aviator ita For the Short Haul Owned by Poste Italiane, the national postal service of Italy, the airline has a fleet of Boeing 737-400(F) and ATR72-500(F) aircraft and primarily operates overnight cargo services around Italy. Given that there is very little in the way of scheduled passenger service between FCO and TLV at the moment, it will be interesting to see if M4 maintains the route as the pandemic recedes and available cargo hold space increases as passenger flights again heavily connect the cities.

The pandemic’s new waves, as well as new restrictive measures introduced in Europe and Greece, had a significant effect on the Group’s operation and load factors in Q4.
