jose, and what they said is that three people are dead, that is not including the shooter, but of course, still so many questions, including, what prompted all of this? hopefully some answers will be coming swiftly tonight with the press conference that is unfolding as we speak at this moment. jose? >> marissa parra, thank you. and that's not the only shooting we have to report on tonight, with violence breaking out at two sporting events. gunfire erupting at a major league baseball game and at a high school football game. in all, five people were shot, one fatally. george solis has details. >> what is going on? >> reporter: this was the terrifying moment shots were fired at a high school football game until oklahoma last night. >> we've got people shooting. >> reporter: you can see the players and students running for their lives. >> people are down on the field. that's crazy. >> reporter: three people were shot, including a young woman, a a man in his 40s. and now, police say a 16-year-old boy has died.

taking his own life. other than the three individuals killed, and the shooter himself, there are no individual people who suffered gunshot wounds. we are not identifying the deceased victims at this time. but i can tell you, there are two male victims and one female victim. all of the deceased victims are black. the shooter had altered several manifesto. one to his parents, one to the media, and one to federal agents. portions of his manifesto is detailed the shooter's disgusting ideology of hate. plainly put, this shooting was racially motivated. he hated black people. >> nbc news national correspondent -- is tracking developments for us in west palm beach. marissa, bring us up to speed. what we know at this hour? >> yeah, a lot of it you heard just now. authorities were largely tightlipped up until the last half hour or so. what we learned from that press conference was frankly disturbing and illuminating.
