Tarrytown, N.Y.: I used to be a salesperson covering the five boroughs from 1990-2010. Part of our monthly expense account went to the different parking tickets, i.e. meters, alternate side of the street parking, too close to a hydrant, etc. God forbid you had an expired driver’s license, registration or insurance card, or a broken taillight, noisy muffler and dozens of other potential reasons to write you up.
Manhattan: With politicians, you have to watch what they do, not be fooled by what they say. Republicans may be shouting about crime now, but the current crime wave began during Donald Trump’s time in the White House and Republicans did nothing about it when they were in power.
Manhattan: As food prices continue to surge, many are wondering how they will afford the culturally relevant food items they need to celebrate the sacred holidays of Ramadan and Passover.
Manhattan: Re “The page is turned” (editorial, March 10): Public libraries are a bedrock of our democracy sites of opportunity and learning, open to all, that store and share our collective histories, knowledge and creativity. As public institutions, our libraries need champions. No one will be a better champion for the Queens Public Library and its 66 neighborhood branches than Jimmy Van Bramer.
Manhattan: In this “defund the police” environment, is every NYC citizen now expected, at the peril of losing his/her job and possibly his/her life, to take on the responsibility of law enforcement? The members of the parole board who granted parole to Brandon Elliot and let him loose again to prey on society are the ones who should lose their jobs and their immunity from lawsuits as well.
