Betty Ford Center to break ground on $30M, multi-year expansion

will further serve the center's purpose of helping those with addiction
 and mental health issues.
The four-year, $30 million project — the most significant expansion since the center was established in 1982 — will transform the Rancho Mirage campus founded by former first lady Betty Ford and former U.S. Ambassador Leonard Firestone.
A groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the center, located at 39-000 Bob Hope Drive. Rancho Mirage Mayor Ted Weill, outgoing Hazleden Betty Ford Foundation President and CEO Mark Mishek, incoming President and CEO Dr. Joseph Lee and Susan Ford Bales, daughter of former President Gerald Ford and the first lady, will make remarks.

Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation Names Dr. Joseph Lee Its Next CEO

He’ll become the youngest CEO in the organization’s history.
The Center City-based Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation has promoted Dr. Joseph Lee to president and CEO for the organization, which is the largest nonprofit provider of addiction and mental health care in the U.S.
Lee has served as medical director for Hazelden Betty Ford’s Youth Continuum since 2010.
Tapping Lee as the group’s new CEO represents many firsts for Hazelden: Lee will be the first physician, the first non-white leader and, at 45, the youngest CEO in its history. Lee is both an experienced addiction medicine doctor and child and adolescent psychiatrist. His parents immigrated to the U.S. from Seoul, South Korea. Lee moves into the top role on June 28.

The Minnesota-based Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation on Thursday named Dr. Joseph Lee as its new president and chief executive, the first physician and person of color to lead the addiction treatment giant.
Lee, a psychiatrist who specializes in child and adolescent addiction, has been medical director of youth services for Hazelden Betty Ford since 2010. In this role he oversees a range of programs, including outpatient and residential care, and family services. Lee also works directly with families as a clinician.
He begins his new position June 28, succeeding Mark Mishek, who announced his retirement last fall.
"Dr. Lee is a generational talent who will be a pioneering leader for Hazelden Betty Ford and the field of addiction treatment for years to come," Lester Munson, chairman of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation's board of trustees, said in a statement.

WEST VIRGINIA GOVERNOR'S OFFICE: 2021 West Virginia State of the State Address

By
West Virginia Governor's Office issued the following announcement on Feb. 10.
GOVERNOR JUSTICE:  Okay.  I sincerely hope everyone is doing as well as they possibly can be.  With all that we've gone through in this State.  But I can tell you that the light of the world is shining on West Virginia right now.   And if you don't believe that, you're just plain not thinking right.
I'd like at this time to recognize some really, really special people, my family.  Cathy and Jill are with us tonight and from beyond that, I want to go directly to my cabinet members.  You know at this time, it is such a difficult time.  You know, we've got for all practical purposes, all my cabinet members watching virtually.  But there is one that is watching from the heavens above, Dennis Davis.  A man that we just lost.  A man that was in charge of all of our vets in the State.  A man, a man's man.  That's all there is to it.
