Molnar WINTERSVILLE — A Bloomingdale man charged with retaliation after he allegedly threatened the life of a common pleas court judge waived his right to a preliminary hearing Monday, sending his case directly to the May term of the Jefferson County grand jury. Wintersville County Court Judge Michael Bednar ordered John Molnar Sr. released on his own recognizance, but warned him he’ll be back behind bars if he goes near the Jefferson County Courthouse, Common Pleas Judge Joseph Bruzzeze Jr., Sportsman’s Trading Post or its employees. He’s also confined to his home and will have to wear an electronic monitor.
Molnar STEUBENVILLE — A Bloomingdale man who allegedly threatened the life of the Jefferson County judge sentencing his son to prison on a weapons violation has been charged with retaliation. John Molnar, 61 Salem Township Road 204, was ordered held without bond following his arraignment Monday before Wintersville County Court Judge Michael Bednar. Molnar, 74, was taken into custody Friday after employees at a local gun shop told Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies they were concerned he posed a threat to the safety of Judge Joseph Bruzzeze Jr. when he tried to buy a cartridge for a 9 mm handgun he claimed a neighbor had given him for protection.

The Ohio Supreme Court ruled last month the video is a public record that should be released. The court rejected the prosecutor’s arguments that releasing the video could endanger court personnel by revealing details of security protocol. The video shows Jefferson County Judge Joseph Bruzzese Jr. being shot outside a courthouse in Steubenville in eastern Ohio in August 2017 by Nathaniel Richmond and then Richmond being killed by a probation officer.

welcome back. an ohio judge is rorg this morning after being shot in what authorities are describing as an ambush style attack. officials say judge joseph raziz was arriving to the jefferson county courthouse in steubenville yesterday when the suspect opened fire, but the judge happened to be armed. he returned fire along with a probation officer who was just behind him. police say the suspect 51-year-old nathaniel richmond was hit in the shoot-out and later died from his injuries. richmond was the father of malik richmond, one of the two high school football players from steubenville convicted in a 2013 case of raping a 16-year-old girl. now, officials say the judge had nothing to do with that particular case, but according to reports, prosecutors are investigating whether the motive for the shooting may be over a wrongful death suit filed by richmond on behalf of his mother that judge braziz was presiding over. at least 40 people outside
