U.S. Tractor, Combine Sales Were Up in November

According to the Association of Equipment Manufacturer's monthly "Flash Report," the sale of all tractors in the U.S. during November were up 41% compared to the same month last year.
Agri Marketing magazine reports that for the 11 months in 2020, a total of 263,122 tractors were sold which compares to 226,143 sold thru November 2019 representing a 16% increase year to date.
For the month, two-wheel drive smaller tractors (under 40 HP) were up 47% from last year, while 40 & under 100 HP were up 28%. Sales of 2-wheel drive 100+ HP were up 24%, while 4-wheel drive tractors were up 91%.

Ag Groups Urge Biden to Support Nutrient Loss Reduction Program

Over a dozen agriculture groups wrote to President-Elect Biden's environment and agriculture transition teams last week, urging the incoming administration to support a program aimed at implementing strategies to reduce nutrient losses to protect water quality.
The "Nutrient Loss Reduction Framework" was issued in 2011 and reaffirmed in 2016. The framework's policies, jointly promoted by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) by the Gulf of Mexico Program,
"has led to a rapid and meaningful expansion of substantive work to reduce nutrient losses in several Mississippi River Basin states," the letter explained.

Effective Jan. 1, the FDA's Center for Veterinary Medicine will no longer issue the following certificates on unique CVM paper with a gold seal: Current Good Manufacturing Practice Certificates, Certificates to Foreign Government, Certificates of Free Sale

NASS to Reinstate Ag Labor Survey

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service intends to reinstate the Agricultural Labor Survey which was suspended on Sept. 30.
NASS will mail the questionnaires and collect data immediately for the survey previously scheduled for October 2020. The report, to be published on Feb. 11, will include data for the July and October 2020 reference dates, including annual average wage rates,
hired workers and hours worked.
Public announcement of the reinstatement of the federal statistical program is available per requirements of the Office of Management and Budget in a Federal Register Notice.

Drought Monitor: Dry Conditions Intensify in Most Areas

Drought conditions intensified almost everywhere in the United States except New England, where heavy rains and snow from a Nor'easter brought relief over the weekend.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)'s Dec. 10 Drought Monitor report, California, Nevada, Colorado and Arizona were states among the hardest-hit, with California having a snow-water content at 36% of the historical average for Dec. 7
and year-to-date precipitation ranging from the bottom 10% to 33% on record.
Farther south in the Four Corners states, snow-water content was below normal in nearly all drainage basins for the week ending Dec. 8.
