Please join the Pulitzer Center Reporting Fellow Program on Tuesday, July 25, at 5:30pm EDT for a Talks @ Pulitzer event discussing the fight against food insecurity in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Immokalee, Florida.  Participants include: Olivia Diaz, 2020 University of Richmond Reporting Fellow and Local Fellow at The Washington Post. She currently covers crime and courts in Fairfax County as an American University graduate fellow with The Post. Diaz will moderate the panel, using knowledge from her previous Pulitzer Center-supported project on multi-faith food rescue in Detroit to lead the conversation. Julia Knoerr, 2023 Global Health Inequities Reporting Fellow with the Pulitzer Center. Her recent Pulitzer Center reporting for Civil Eats and El Nuevo Herald documented the fight for food sovereignty by migrant farmworkers in Immokalee, Florida. Knoerr was previously a 2020 Reporting Fellow for Davidson College, and is currently a program associate at Internews, an international nonprofit that supports independent media. Dylan Ortiz, 2022 Carol Smith Passariello/Pulitzer Center Reporting Fellow for SUNY Westchester Community College. With funding from the Pulitzer Center, he produced a documentary on food insecurity in the Ninth Ward of New Orleans, featuring efforts by local nonprofits to feed their community. Ortiz is currently pursuing his degree in film, cinema, and video studies at Fordham University in New York City. Following panelist presentations, there will be time reserved for a Q&A session. This event is free to attend, but registration through Eventbrite is required. Light refreshments will be provided.
