The Day - Waterford director of fire services retires from position - News from southeastern Connecticut

Miller submitted his retirement letter to First Selectman Rob Brule on Feb. 16.
“While I have enjoyed my employment with the town of Waterford, it is time to pursue other career goals. I have accepted a position in the health and safety field as a prevention/risk specialist,” Miller wrote. “The assistance and support I have received from my peers over my nearly 34 years of employment has been outstanding, and greatly appreciated.”
Miller did not respond to requests for comment.
Brule wished Miller well.
“As with any team member, we respect and appreciate the time and effort they put in towards making this a great town. Like Bruce, we value every employee and always respect their decision to do what’s best for themselves and their family,” Brule said, highlighting Miller’s “more than three decades” of service. “Bruce recently helped save an elderly resident from a house fire, showing right to the end of his Waterford career that he was willing to risk his own safety for others. Naturally, we wish Bruce and his family nothing but the best.”
