Analysis of Proteomics Helps to Identify Drug Targets

Analysis of Proteomics Helps to Identify Drug Targets

Proteomic analysis is a useful approach to identify potential novel therapeutic targets, as per the study in the journal
Oncogene. The identification of proteomic signatures are associated with clinical measures of aggressive disease for seven cancer types studied.
Some signatures were shared between different types of cancer and included cellular pathways of altered metabolism. Importantly, experimental results provided proof-of-concept that their proteomics analysis approach is a valuable strategy to identify potential therapeutic targets.
There are two notable aspects of this study. One is that we explored the proteomic landscape of cancer looking for proteins that were expressed in association with aggressive forms of cancer, said co-corresponding author Dr. Chad Creighton, professor of medicine and co-director of Cancer Bioinfor ....

Proteomics analysis from aggressive human cancers can help identify potential therapeutic targets

Proteomics analysis from aggressive human cancers can help identify potential therapeutic targets
Researchers at Baylor College of Medicine show that analysis of the proteomics, or all the protein data, from aggressive human cancers is a useful approach to identify potential novel therapeutic targets.
They report in the journal
Oncogene, the identification of proteomic signatures that are associated with clinical measures of aggressive disease for each of the seven cancer types studied. Some signatures were shared between different types of cancer and included cellular pathways of altered metabolism. Importantly, experimental results provided proof-of-concept that their proteomics analysis approach is a valuable strategy to identify potential therapeutic targets. ....

New Nature Communications publication by Mann & Theis Groups harnesses the benefits of large-scale peptide collisional cross section (CCS) measurements and deep learning for 4D-proteomics
Bruker Corporation today announces a seminal publication from the groups of Professors Matthias Mann and Fabian Theis in the journal Nature Communications with the title ‘Deep learning the collisional cross sections of the peptide universe from a million experimental values’ by Florian Meier et al. (doi.org/10.1038/s41467-021-21352-8).

SARS-CoV-2 modulates host cell central carbon metabolism for reproduction

SARS-CoV-2 modulates host cell central carbon metabolism for reproduction
A team of scientists from Sweden and India has recently characterized the host cell metabolic alterations associated with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. Their findings reveal that SARS-CoV-2 modulates the host cell s central carbon metabolism to facilitate replication and infection propagation. Moreover, they observe that the severity of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) primarily depends on the blood levels of glucose, mannose, and glutamate. The study is currently available on the
Background
Since its emergence in late December 2019 in Wuhan, China, SARS-CoV-2, the causative pathogen of COVID-19 disease, has infected 114 million people and claimed 2.52 million lives globally. ....
