the money is just not in the people's hands, it is in the hands of the rich, the rich who committed these crimes back on wall street and got away with it. you know, i just have these -- i brought these, rachel, this is my prop for the night. >> can we have a wide shot of what mr. moore brought with him. >> i brought these with me. anybody that works on wall street, anybody that works for one of the banks, take a look at this, okay? because this is what's coming. this is what's coming for you, because the people aren't going to take it any more. the people are going to demand justice. they are going to demand that your ass is in jail. you have taken the money, we want the money back. you have taken our jobs overseas, we want those jobs back. those are a national resource. those are not yours to do with as you please. they affect all of us as society. we have a right to those jobs, we have a right to that money that used to belong to the people of this country. a million people evicted from homes, foreclosured this year. another million expected this year. i just wonder again, if i can, address the wall streeters and

but in the meantime, what they did is they took out everything they said was nonfiscal, even though they've been saying the collective bargaining language was fiscal all along, which is why they didn't do this early on, and they passed it in the course of a few seconds on the senate floor. so you're talking about five or six decades' worth of workers rights stomped out in a matter of minutes in the state senate. obviously we are very upset about this. we actually suggested they break up the nonfiscal stuff, which is what we suggested in the beginning, they said they couldn't with collective bargaining because it was fiscal. apparently now it is not fiscal. so i got to believe they have a huge explanation when it comes to everybody in the state of wisconsin. obviously they've been lying about this all along, and they need to be up front and honest as to why they did what they did. rachel, never once did they say it was about union busting. never once said it was going after collective bargaining. they said it was about balancing the budget. well, guess what. they still don't have a balanced budget, but they did it anyway.

wisconsin, and what represent barca had in his hands was something from a republican attorney general in the state of wisconsin, so odds are this probably will end up in court. but in the meantime, what they did is they took out everything they said was nonfiscal, even though they've been saying the collective bargaining language was fiscal all along, which is why they didn't do this early on, and they passed it in the course of a few seconds on the senate floor. so you're talking about five or six decades' worth of workers rights stomped out in a matter of minutes in the state senate. obviously we are very upset about this. we actually suggested they break up the nonfiscal stuff, which is what we suggested in the beginning, they said they couldn't with collective bargaining because it was fiscal. apparently now it is not fiscal. so i got to believe they have a huge explanation when it comes to everybody in the state of wisconsin. obviously they've been lying about this all along, and they need to be up front and honest as to why they did what they did. rachel, never once did they say

>> glad to be with you, rachel. >> do you see disaster capitalism at work in state budget fights because i do? >> yes, i definitely do. it is important to remember that these guys have been at this for 30 years. i mean, they're part of an ideological movement and they believe in a whole bunch of stuff that's not very popular. you know, there are some policies in the ideological republican play book that a lot of people like, everybody likes a tax break. but if you talk about privatizing the water system, busing unions, privatizing entire towns, things like this, if you run an election and say this is what i plan to do, chances are you will lose that election. this is where crises come in. they are very handy. you can say we have no choice. you don't have to win the argument any more. you just have to say the sky is falling in.

of wisconsin, are basically shirking their duties, and instead of staying in the fight, staying on the floor, pushing through and making the argument and galvanizing people around the argument, there on the home court, they went across the state. if we get in trouble, rachel, i guess the place to go is illinois. >> but you can't say that the democrats in wisconsin state senate haven't galvanized people around the position. everybody in the state lined up behind them. >> but they're not there. they are not heros, they're wimps. >> really? >> you going to fight a battle from a distance? >> they're not going out there to get better aim because they are my op i can. they left to deny republicans a quorum. it is a state level filibuster. >> when republicans did the same, were accused of doing the

financial emergency. and how do you know when you're in a financial emergency? because the governor tells you you're in a financial emergency. or a company he hires to do so does that instead. the senate version of the bill in michigan says it has to be humans declaring the fiscal emergency. the house says a firm can do it as well. this is about a lot of things, this is not about a budget. this is using or fabricating crisis to push an agenda you would never be able to sell under normal circumstances. so you have to convince everyone these are not normal circumstances, these are desperate circumstances and desperate measures are somehow required. what this is has a name. it is called shock doctrine. joining me now, author of the book "the shock doctrine," naomi klein. thank you for being here. >> glad to be with you, rachel. >> do you see disaster capitalism at work in state budget fights because i do? >> yes, i definitely do.
