被挤到停业的“神店”，Costco到底有多牛？
Costco为何“神一般的存在”？先来说说两个重要的关键词，头一个是“会员”。要进Costco超市购物，得先购买会员，半岛全媒体记者下载“开市客”APP发现，会员类型有金星会员和企业会员两种，一般个人消费者注册的是金星会员，费用为299元。
注意了，299元只是年费，一年期过，重新续费。实际上，会员制不仅是Costco独特的商业标签，更是其核心盈利点。有资料显示，Costco已建立了一套强大的会员体系，其会员续费率高达90%，会员费每年以2亿的水平在增长。
另一个关键词是“量贩”，量大，价格低。网友形容Costco为“进口好物的批发市场”，无所不卖，从盆栽、猫爬架、除草机到爱马仕、万国手表、PRADA、贵州茅台再到配眼镜、换轮胎等包罗万象，各种生活需要一站解决。还有各种管饱、管够的海量试吃，冰淇淋烤肉甜点饮料，逛一圈下来光试吃就节省了大笔饭钱。
Costco有自己独到的经营方式，比如，店面装修非常简朴，几乎不打广告，直接与厂商产销对接，尽一切的可能砍掉中间环节，产品平均利润率压缩至10%，降低商品售价，实现低买、爆卖。曾有官方透露，Costco非食品类的百货商品价格低于市场价的30%到60%，食品类则低10%到20%。
“会员”和“量贩”，一张一弛，构建起了 Costco别样的商业逻辑：传统零售企业赚的是商品差价，差价减去人工等成本得到利润，所以，传统零售商永远在思考“如何提高商品的销售毛利”，而会员制下的Costco恰恰相反，追求的是想方设法降低商品的毛利率，终极目的是吸引更多会员。
Costco财报显示， 2020年销售额达到历史新高的1630亿美元，同比增长8%，其中电商增长50%；拥有5900万会员家庭和1.07亿会员卡持有者。这些会员每年可为Costco带来35亿美元的会员费收入。
跑马中国2年拿下7城，青岛“首店经济”再扩容
2019年8月27日开业的Costco上海闵行店是中国大陆首店，客流之爆满不仅登上了热搜，也坚定了Costco对中国大陆市场的信心，接下来短短两年时间，Costco加速布局，频频拿地。
2020年，Costco相继在上海浦东、苏州高新区签约拿地，苏州成为Costco继上海之后落户中国大陆的第二个城市；2021年2月底，Costco在深圳龙华拿地；2021年4月初，Costco和广州荔湾区政府签署合作备忘录；2021年6月，杭州项目、宁波项目相继签约；6月25日，开市客(Costco)集团与江宁高新区签署投资协议，正式落子南京江宁……
Costco在中国的跑马圈地仍在继续。在近期被曝出的Costco首批全国城市布局图中可以看到，还有包括青岛在内的北京、西安、成都、重庆、武汉等城市。而选址在城阳区文阳路南、民城路东的Costco项目是山东首店，这也标志着青岛“四首经济”再扩容。
青岛提出不断提升对国内外消费的集聚力、吸引力，努力将青岛建设成为特色显著的区域性国际消费中心城市。其中一个重要举措，就是发展区域首店、行业首牌、品牌首秀、新品首发等“四首经济”。
据青岛市商务局统计，截至目前，全市累计招引各类首店项目120多个，吸引了成千上万的市民和游客前来打卡消费。仅青岛万象城就吸引了世嘉、嗨贝天地、锦官小釜、东阿驴肉火锅等5家全国首店，莆田、湘爱、APPLE 、Air Jordan、lululemon、TIMEVALLEE、CGV等32家山东首店以及51家青岛首店。
另据消息称，Costco山东首店的选址始终备受关注。今年4月，基本确定落户城阳；5月11日，城阳方面透露项目拟选址城阳街道；和达智慧生态城对面的大片土地(白沙河南侧，天风南路东侧)不符合规划要求。
5月31日，城阳区招商促进中心称Costco开市客项目方正在多个区市进行考察选址，项目最终选址将由项目方根据考察情况确定。城阳区也将与项目方积极沟通，争取项目落户城阳。
7月6日官方答复称，Costco项目拟选址文阳路南、民城路东，项目正在洽谈，计划年内签订投资意向书。
国际零售大鳄们的青岛“江湖演义”
纵观青岛近20年来的零售业发展史不难发现，青岛是世界零售巨头、大型国际商超的必争之地。自2000年以来，包括美国、日本、德国、法国、英国、韩国等国的大型跨国零售企业都曾进驻过青岛，其中，具有“世界三大零售巨头”之称的沃尔玛、家乐福、Tesco均在青岛分别有多家购物中心和超级市场——只是多年以后，沃尔玛、Tesco退出青岛，家乐福中国卖给了苏宁易购，如今苏宁易购也在寻找下家。
世界十大零售巨头之首沃尔玛于2003年进驻青岛，在青岛拥有城阳和台东两家店面。其中，沃尔玛购物广场青岛台东分店于2003年开始营业，城阳沃尔玛2010年11月正式营业。2014年，城阳沃尔玛停止营业。2019年3月25日，沃尔玛台东分店宣告停止营业，标志着沃尔玛正式退出青岛市场。
Tesco是一家英国跨国零售公司，2009年，Tesco公司在青岛投资1.5亿美元，连开两家购物中心，其中，位于人民路的“四方乐都汇”号称是TESCO在全球投资额最大的购物中心。2013年6月，该购物中心清仓关店，Tesco失利于青岛。
2009年，韩国零售商业乐天进驻岛城，在苦苦打拼支撑了6年后，2015年7月，山东路和仙霞岭路的青岛两家乐天玛特超市停止营业，同时，山东省内的潍坊、威海等地的乐天玛特卖场也宣布停业。
巨头大鳄进进出出，他们是中国千禧年后快消品补缺时期的参与者，却不是21世纪中国零售市场巨大演变的竞技者。近十年，新零售层出不穷，淘宝、天猫、京东等电商平台，美团、饿了么等外卖平台，盒马、永辉超级物种等新零售平台、微商、直播带货、短视频等内容电商及采购渠道，颠覆了传统零售市场的底层逻辑。
Costco的青岛掘金之路，道阻且长
Costco能成功吗？能火多久？大家的疑问里夹杂着几分担心。
一方面，消费者买不买会员制的账？青岛市民最为熟悉的会员制零售商应属麦德龙。麦德龙（Metro）是一家德国多元化跨国零售批发集团，同样具有“会员”、“量贩”两大标签，麦德龙会员门槛199元，与Costco、山姆会员店、盒马的会员价相比，其价格更低，麦德龙中国曾公开表示“会员费不是盈利点”。大部分市民消费者习惯于免费会员制，对于以会员费为核心盈利点的Costco来说，价格不菲的会员费是个大门槛。
实际上，会员店模式已被视为零售业的“新赛道”。家乐福中国今年5月份宣布，家乐福年内将开启会员店新业态，通过升级改造以及部分门店转型为会员店。值得关注的是，家乐福会员店将和山姆、Costco完全不同，消费者不用驱车前往郊区，改造完成后，在市区内的家乐福门店就可以购买会员商品。
另一方面，购买行为习惯是否“水土不服”？仓储式、量贩式，往往需要单次购买很多量，而国内消费者日常中不太有远距离开车、大批量背回囤货的消费行为。这与人口居住环境有很大关系，在国外，人们的居住区与商业区距离远，需要开车集中采购，而我国的居住区与商业区是融合的，人口密度大，支付、网购、物流、社团等服务便利，仓储式对消费者的吸引力有限。
半岛全媒体记者注意到，Costco在中国大陆市场的选址多是远离繁华市中心，比如青岛的城阳区，这符合它降低成本让利于消费者的商业逻辑，但消费者必须乘坐交通工具或者开车才能去大规模采购，相比于交通成本、时间成本和体力成本，这个让利还值不值？消费者会打一下自己的“小算盘”。相信开业初期一定会有“打卡”尝鲜驱动力下的短期红利，那么，后期如何吸引续费，就成了艰巨的任务。
在电子商务、新零售飞速发展的近些年，实体零售业的唱衰不绝于耳，Costco山东首店落户青岛，无疑给岛城零售业注入了一剂强心剂，承载着各方期待。
