of highway will close for a week due to flooding and the rain. it just won't stop with more storms firing up across the south tonight. our janet shamlian has more from dallas. >> reporter: texas lashed again, this time dallas was hardest hit. pounding rains flooded roads and brought the morning rush hour to a stop. >> we're at a standstill. can't go left, can't go right. >> reporter: a portion of a highway now closed for up to seven days. more than 7 inches of rain slammed the area. more than 200 people needed emergency rescues after flash flooding submerged cars. even a tow truck driver who came to help others was stuck. >> the water shut my truck down, and the water started rising immediately. >> reporter: north of dallas, a police officer had to be airlifted out after raging floodwaters surrounded his squad car. near houston, a triple threat. waters rising on the brazos, san jacinto and colorado rivers. several homes under water. >> you just don't know

searching for clues at the scene of that horrific quadruple homicide and fire. and as prime suspect 34-year-old daron wint sits behind bars, charged with murder in connection with the killing of savvas, amy and phillip savopoulos and housekeeper vera figeroa, unresolved questions remain about the $40,000 in cash delivered to the home before it was set ablaze. according to a criminal complaint, an employee referred to as "w-1," savvas' driver tasked with handling daily assignments for him made the money drop. w-1 initially told police savvas called him to deliver a package the day of the fire, but later said savapoulos sent him those instructions by text the day before. and police say w-1 admitted that it lied when he told police the car where the money was to be dropped was locked. >> i suppose he could have made a mistake. what's striking is, there are a number of mistakes he corrects.

>> it was never going to be a dull day. protesters busting the peace wanting israel to be suspended for allegedly restriction movement to palestinian players. this is where most of the protesters are about 100 or so outside. they're actually being held across the road from the hall. that's the stadium where the voting is going on right now. and take a look across the road here. this gives you an idea of how far the protesters are being held back. crossing over the road. right over here, you can see the police. maybe a dozen or so. maybe 20 police. there are a couple of policemen out here that are ready for more action. we see them. the policeman over here who has got a smoke gun. >> then, there was the bomb threat, the delegates had lunch. all remain calm. this is the place to get the best view of what is happening. a live shot position overlooking all of the events here. down there, that's where the protesters are.

organizers? >> well i think most voters are less concerned with gender or race or identity politic thans they are with the politicians' policies and experience and record. i don't know that that matters a whole lot. another point i want to touch on that we touched on before. i am not normally one to give credit to early polls. but there was one that caught my eye. this was among democrats in maryland. when governor o'malley was still governor. they were asked who would they prefer hillary clinton or martin o'malley. this is in maryland and secretary clinton won 63-3. i've seen closer scores in video games set on easy mode. he has a tough road ahead to distinguish himself. i don't think secretary clinton is ahead in the democratic primary because she's a woman. i think she's ahead you know because she's more of a national name brand. she has more of a record that people are aware of. and so you know i think the identity politics question is
