Councilmember Roberto Uranga had been excused by the City Council for his absence since mid-September, when he had a stroke before his son died from a rare form of cancer.

“Councilmember Roberto Uranga is receiving medical care and is on the road to recovery,” said a statement from the 7th District office.

7th District Councilmember Roberto Uranga's 34-year-old son died Thursday, Sept. 22 following a battle with a rare and aggressive form of cancer, according to Uranga’s office.
