News to report. one of the main arteries in this city, route 40, which goes in and out of atlantic city, that had to be shut down a few hours ago because of flooding. that has since reopened. so that is good news. as you can see, the wind speed here has really varied and sometimes it really kicks up and you can barely see in front of you. but sometimes it will slow down a little bit. again, with some of this, the governor and other officials here are telling people, as a matter of fact governor murphy just said a short time ago, folks, sit this one out, stay inside, do not venture outside. but still i m kind of incredulous, this is one of the main drags here in atlantic city. a lot of vehicles out here this morning. and again, if you look down here, visibility is just nothing. so it really is treacherous to try to get out. we are still told by city officials though that people are venturing out and they are getting stuck. so one of the problems with that of course is that when you call 911 and you are stuck, it can be
Carolina avenue. route 40, one of the main arteries of the city, we were told by a city official a short time ago has been shut down due to flooding because, again, high tides pushing water inland, big accumulations of snow, and heavy winds pushing the water from the high tides inland. high tide was about three hours ago. but, again, flooding from that high tide is affecting the main artery into and out of the city, route 40, so they re diverting travg to the city s expressway. you can see visibility is horrible out here. the snow drifts, snow bursts, you cannot see more than maybe a block away from us here, and people, we see the occasional people walking and driving. that is really dangerous at this point. a really terrible idea. we hear the wind howling as you re speaking brian. it s rough out there. best to heed the warnings. i lost ifv.
This bay behind me, we are on the west side of the barrier island that atlantic city is situated on. this bay right here presented a danger earlier today with high tide and possible storm surge and flooding. there was some flooding in the spot where i am now, and we re going to pan over to show you where that occurred. that is route 40. we re at the corner of west end avenue and north albany avenue. north albany avenue turns into route 40. this whole area, we see the snowplow over there, and this snowplow over here, this was shut down earlier today. it has since reopened. it was shut down because if you see right where that truck is turning in, coming toward us, this whole intersection, this whole area was flooded. so that was because of high tide at 4:30 a.m. it was flooded for a few hours after that. they had to shut down this road. this is a main artery into atlantic city. good news is this has since reopened, so you see the plows at work, even though we re in
