CINCINNATI (FOX19) - More UC and XU fans got in on the “Crosstown Tip-off Challenge.”
On Thursday, a UC fan left a $2,000 tip for R.P. McMurphy’s Irish Pub staff members on a $39.89 bill.
The tipper wrote, “Guys. Your staff is awesome! JEB rules! Go UC! Go big or go home!”
R.P. McMurphy’s said this was an extra special tip because it honored Tri-State restaurant owner Jeremy Bowman, who passed away at the end of 2020 from COVID-19.

Crosstown Tip-off: $1,000 tips fueled by Cincinnati vs. Xavier rivalry

The out-of-towner was talking about Xavier University.
Once upon a time, the man from Connecticut had gone to school there. One day in early January, a cold day where temperatures barely rose above freezing, the man returned to visit the college with his daughters.
They ate at Zip’s Café, a famous Cincinnati burger restaurant in Mount Lookout. One of the workers wore Xavier gear, and so that’s what they talked about. But this wasn’t Zip’s like the man remembered. The typically cramped and crowded restaurant seemed almost barren.
There were QR codes linked to menus on the walls and signs about wearing a mask. The tables in the center of the dining room had been removed as part of COVID-19 precautions.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - The Crosstown Tip-Off Challenge is officially a tie — and the ball is in UC’s court.
Monday night the Incline Public House posted a $1,500 tip left by a gracious customer who wrote, “I love both teams! Support our restaurants!”
It wasn’t 24 hours before hostilities were renewed (—playfully, of course.)
