Almost two years after the incident on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship, the grandfather who was with his 18-month-old granddaughter when she fell to her death from an open window was sentenced Monday to three years of probation based on the Department of Justice of Puerto Rico.
The grandfather sentenced with probation was a resident of Valparaiso, Indiana, Salvatore 'Sam' Anello, has pleaded guilty on the charge of negligent homicide in 2019 after he allegedly let his 18-month-old granddaughter Chloe Wiegand, fell through an 11-story window from the ship docked in San Juan, the Capital city of Puerto Rico in July of 2019.

The grandfather who accidentally lost control of his toddler granddaughter on a cruise ship last year, causing her to fall more than 10 stories to her death, pleaded guilty on Thursday to negligent homicide. Ah San Juan Judge Accepted Salmon Ellos plea An NBC reports that he will be sentenced on December 10th in an ellos agreeing to the plea deal. He will avoid jail time and will be able to serve probation in his hometown of South Bend, Indiana, in October 2019. 18 month old Chloe weekend fell out of the window onto a concrete dock while in the Children's play area of a Royal Caribbean cruise ship docked in Puerto Rico. The family's attorney, Michael Winkelmann, said in a statement obtained by people that Canellos decision was incredibly difficult, but because the plea agreement includes no jail time and no admission of facts, it was decided the plea deal is in the best interest of the family. He added that they can close this horrible chapter and turn their focus to morning Chloe and fighting for cruise passenger safety. People had previously obtained a statement from the Puerto Rican Department of Justice, where prosecutors alleged that in L. A quote negligently exposed the child to the abyss through a window on the 11th floor of the cruise ship. A mellow and his family have long maintained that close fall was an accident and not a crime.
