growing in strength. if they continue to gavel news and engage like that, things may turn around in the mid terms, but right now democrats are in control, and they are doing their job. they're doing exactly what they promised. >> if trump had resounding support, he couldn't be at 40% approval rate, the lowest of any president since polling started. >> maria, i hear you, but he's in the white house. and to andre's point, they have the senate and the congress. most of the governors around the country. it's really not much that democrats can do but protest. >> i absolutely agree with you, and look, i've been thinking about this for weeks after what was a soul crushing campaign and election for most democrats and every progressive in this country who wanted hillary to win. there's no question about that. but i think the one silver lining in this is that this is the quick in the butt that not just democrats needed, but i

to ten years. anybody who spent five minutes in a federal prison knows this is not a picnic. it is soul crushing. expensive. demeaning. wasteful. for him to say look let's take this person who under sentencing would have gotten a quart let quarter, let's stop destroying families let the guy get off with 20 years instead of 30 years. that's why they have executive power to bring sanity when for a lot of reasons the system has gone insane. >> this is in line with a policy prescription. this is the president take acview of onerous of minimum mandatory sentences particularly for drug crimes saying let me bring remedy in a policy area. this isn't pardoning a rich donor like mark rich as bill clinton did at the end of his term. this is something much more in keeping with policy.
