we're following breaking news. a major disaster is beginning to unfold tonight in texas as hurricane harvey closes in packing devastating winds and catastrophic rain. that's forecast to fall for days. cnn's martin savage is in corpus christi right in the danger zone for us. martin, people there who chose not to evacuate are now being told, i take it, it's too late. >> reporter: right, it is too late. there's no way that anybody should go out now. we've just come under this extreme wind warning that's come from the national weather service and it's essentially warning that now until about 8:00 local time, you could face gusts of up to 145 miles an hour. i can't begin to try to tell you how destructive that can be because it's not just a narrow focus of what you might get with a toronado. this is a broad swath kind of damage that can occur. especially you add that with a storm surge that measures here
