Luxshare-ICT (Nghe An) Limited, a subsidiary of major Chinese electronics producer Luxshare-ICT and a supplier for Apple Inc., is recruiting an additional 1,010 laborers after the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, as the firm anticipates rising orders.
Apple: Engineering verification for test production of an iPad model will start around mid-February and the model will be available in the second half of next year, it said.
This comes against the backdrop of Apple gradually expanding its production base in India. Most recently, the Tata Group has signed a binding share purchase agreement with SMS InfoComm (Singapore) and Wistron Hong Kong Limited to acquire a 100% equity stake in Wistron Infocomm Manufacturing (India), which will enable the Indian oils-to-software conglomerate to officially join the Apple supply chain as an iPhone assembler.
Apple: "We are open to doing business with any company anywhere as long as they are investing and conducting their business lawfully and are in compliance with the Indian laws," Chandrasekhar told the FT, adding that India was "open to all investment, including Chinese".
