mark davenport is live this morning with more details on this. so mark, tell us, how did the little boy help get everyone out? reporter: john, he told us yesterday at the scene of that fire that he was the only one in the house that heard the fire crackling, he immediately got everyone s attention in the home and got them out the back door before the flames took over the rest of the house. i want to show you the aftermath of the home this is on the ground when we were able to get there with the cameras after the fire was put out. carter lost most of his toys in the fire but saved a few of his favorite things, his family members. the boy heard the fire before he saw it. he acted fast, got his mom out of the bathroom woke grandma up, his mom, brianna hurley said her baby is her hero. you could see smoke from everywhere. i couldn t see when we walked out of the back door it was scary. 30 seconds the roof started collapsing, i m glad we got out when we did. reporter ....

difference in the way union county is searching for their superintendent than they are in charlotte-mecklenburg schools? reporter: yeah, john, there is a big difference, actually. the board decided to skip a search firm, that is the direction cms is going in. they will let the national north carolina school board association pick their candidates for them in union county. now, this morning we may find out if the association has any kind of short list. special meeting to discuss the superintendent search is taking place at 11:00 this morning in union county. school board members say the one thing they learned from cms is getting the process started instead of putting it off any longer. some board members wanted to have a new leader in place in union county by next year but in the end, the board voted to decide no time line, they want to make sure they get it right in union county. new hire will replace dr. mary ellis, who will retire on june 1st. we ll let you know wha ....
guest: i have never kept count of the number of times i was arrested. i write in the book about two of them. the first one and the last one. i remember very well the first one. i met my wife. we met in jail and that became a real blessing for me. the last time was in columbia south carolina in 1961. i remember that one so well because that arrests led to a landmark reach of peace case against south carolina. it began the law school, a law school case that most universities that use the casebook method used that case. i happen to have been one of those arrested that day and so i remember those. in between a lot of times we got arrested and were never really charged. we were just taken to the police station, taken off the streets of lawrenceburg and then put back on once the crowd dispersed so i never really kept count on all of that. host: why were you and emily clyburn arrested in what year was back back? guest: it was march 15, 1960. it was six weeks after those ....
