Lobos Make Additions to External Staff
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Jonathan Tibbetts, a graduate of UNM, and Corie Apodaca, a graduate of Chestnut Hill College, have been hired by The University of New Mexico Athletic Department. Tibbetts will serve as the Assistant Director of Creative Services, and Apodaca will be the Assistant Director of Marketing.
“We are thrilled with these new additions to our staff,” said Associate A.D. for Marketing and Communications Joe Thuente. “Our staff is coming together great, and I cannot wait for next season to start.”
Tibbetts, a native of Santa Fe, New Mexico, most recently served as a graduate assistant in graphic design for TCU football, where he designed elements for all TCU social media platforms. While at TCU, Tibbetts earned a master’s degree in liberal arts, graduating earlier this year. Tibbetts is no stranger to UNM, previously serving as a senior graphic designer for UNM’s football and basketball programs, creating promotional items for the teams. Tibbetts was also a marketing intern with the UNM Athletic Department from August of 2017 to May of 2019. While in this role, Tibbetts developed networking opportunities with local businesses in the community and designed graphics for game-day promotions and player achievements.

BETHLEHEM, CT - Reverend Mother Dorcas (née Mary Loretta) Rosenlund, 93, member of the Abbey of Regina Laudis, died at the Abbey on May 20, 2021, from complications due to old age. Mother Dorcas entered Regina Laudis in 1982 after distinguishing herself in two careers, in Public Relations and in Medicine as a Pediatric Gastroenterologist. She was the Abbey's baker for over thirty years and founded the Contemplative Medical Center of Regina Laudis.
Mary Loretta Rosenlund was born on August 4, 1927, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Arthur and Helen Ternon Rosenlund. For almost 100 years, the Sisters of St. Joseph in Chestnut Hill have lived in the grandeur built by 19th-century industrialists. What has been St. Michael’s Hall since 1924, when the nuns acquired it, started as an opulent estate for a string of wealthy Philadelphia families.
Now the religious order, which runs Chestnut Hill College, wants to sell the 15-room mansion and its 4 acres of landscaped grounds. The last residents moved out in September, and the sisters hope to hand the house over to a good steward.

Greg Scott seeks re-election as Norristown district court judge

NORRISTOWN — Born and raised in Norristown, incumbent District Court Judge Gregory Scott says he’s been honored to serve his community and he wants to continue “to advocate for equity within our justice system” with a second term.
“I am proud of my work in and out of the courtroom. While we have accomplished a lot, there is more to do and I look forward to finishing my work as it relates to the Montgomery County Pre-Trial Services program and ensuring that we are not holding individuals in confinement unnecessarily,” Scott, 34, said recently as he announced his re-election bid during the May 18 primary election for district court judge in Montgomery County’s Magisterial District Court 38-2-09, which encompasses parts of Norristown Borough.

Philly school puts students on college-track with less debt

Of the students who made it through four years, 95% are graduating with both a high school diploma and an associate’s degree. Parkway Middle College students also have the option to graduate with another kind of career certification.
The program reduces some of the financial burden that usually comes along with attending a university. The students ideally only have to pay for two years of school to earn an undergraduate degree.
About 52% of the middle college students come from low-income households in Philadelphia.
So far, students have received over $7 million in college scholarships, and more money is still coming in, according to Principal Anh Nguyen.
