Vilifying Kukah for speaking truth to power wrong, says Muslim coalition

A coalition of Nigerian Muslim professionals has condemned attacks trailing Bishop Matthew Kukah following his Christmas Day Message, where he allegedly berated the state of the nation, warning that unless leaders sit up, Nigeria was heading towards a failed state.
The revered Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Archdiocese was also quoted as accusing President Muhammadu Buhari of piloting Nigeria into darkness in the message titled: “A Nation in Search of Vindication.”
He took swipe at the worsening state of insecurity in the country just as he berated the current federal administration of glaringly abandoning the nation’s extant federal character principles and rather promoting nepotism with impunity. ....

Muslim coalition warns against attacks on Kukah over Christmas day statement

Those vilifying the Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Archdiocese, Matthew Kukah for speaking against the current administration have been warned to desist from actions that could deplete the peace of the country.
The coalition of Nigerian Muslim Professionals, in a statement made available to DAILY POST in Abuja on Tuesday, said that Nigeria will be a great place if there were two or three persons like Kukah.
A statement signed by the group’s National Coordinator, Prof. Mohammed Inuwa, noted that Buhari may have meant well for the country but faulted the President in some actions taken by his administration which it said was not promoting unity. ....

SMBLF decries presidency's attack on Kukah, demands immediate apology

Southern Nigeria and Middle Belt Forum (SMBLF), on Monday, condemned the outbursts of the Presidency and the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) over the Christmas Day sermon of Bishop Mathew Kukah, declaring that the cleric remained a national icon and a hero of the masses, whose voice of truth and reason can never be suppressed successfully while demanding an immediate apology to him for the baseless attacks.
SMBLF expressed this concern in a statement jointly signed by Mr Yinka Odumakin for South-West, Chief Guy Ikoku (South-East), Senator Bassey Henshaw (South-South) and Dr Isuwa Dogo (Middle-Belt), and further declaring that the outspoken cleric, who had been a beacon of truthfulness over the years, remained a foremost defender of the aspirations of millions of Nigerians across ethnic and religious lines. ....
