Global economic growth estimate of 4.8% will increase oil demand, market stability in 2021— OPEC

THE Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, has stressed that the estimated 4.8 per cent global growth will culminate in oil market stability this year.
This is even as the price of Bonny Light, Nigeria’s premium oil grade, dropped from $65.70 to $63.11, while OPEC Basket, and other crudes also dropped marginally over uncertainty about the outcome on the ongoing 49th Meeting of the Joint Technical Committee (JTC) (Videoconference).
However, speaking at the meeting, monitored by Vanguard, HE Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo,Secretary General, OPEC, stated:
“The economic recovery is gaining momentum. This is reflected in our latest global growth estimate of 4.8% for 2021, up from the 4.4% projection we shared at our last meeting.

Muscat: World oil prices closed on Friday at their highest levels in nearly two years, after producers agreed to increase supply from April by a smaller amount than expected.
The price of a barrel of Brent North Sea crude for May delivery rose by 3.9 per cent to $69.66 in London, its highest closing price since April 2019.
In New York, the price of a West Texas Intermediate (WTI) per barrel for April delivery rose by 3.5 per cent and reached $ 66.9, the highest closing level in 22 months.

Oil demand to bounce back this year, says report
The Covid pandemic led to oil demand contracting by 9-10 million barrels per day in 2020, but it is expected to rebound by 5-6 million barrels per day this year, a major symposium heard.
The pandemic has also led to a downward revision in long-term annual economic growth by as much as 0.8 percentage points in some outlooks, a high-level report noted.
The International Energy Agency (IEA), the International Energy Forum (IEF) and the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec) hosted the 11th IEA-IEF-Opec Symposium on Energy Outlooks to examine the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on global energy markets and the outlook for global energy security and market stability.

(MENAFN - Emirates News Agency (WAM)) RIYADH, 17th February, 2021 (WAM) -- The International Energy Agency (IEA), the International Energy Forum (IEF) and the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) today hosted the 11th IEA-IEF-OPEC Symposium on Energy Outlooks to examine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on global energy markets and the outlook for global energy security and market stability.
Hosted by the IEF, the symposium reviewed the IEA's and OPEC's short-, medium- and longterm outlooks, which are analysed in the newly released IEF-RFF Outlooks Comparison Report. Produced by the IEF and Resources For the Future (RFF), the report highlights a reset in energy outlooks after the biggest demand shock in history last year.

After Rajasthan, petrol crosses Rs 100-mark in Madhya Pradesh

After Rajasthan, petrol price on Thursday crossed the Rs 100 per litre mark in Madhya Pradesh after fuel rates were increased for the tenth day in a row. Petrol price was hiked by 34 paise per litre and diesel by 32 paise, according to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers.
