Thursday 6 May 2021 10:52 am The public wants net zero, but only when it's affordable. Business needs to lead the way Combating climate change and reaching net zero is quite rightly at the heart of the Government’s agenda. In the past few weeks, we’ve seen a significant acceleration of its ambitions to cut carbon emissions – now 78 percent of 1990 emissions by 2035. This is mirrored by recent polling by Cavendish Advocacy in partnership with Yonder revealing that the majority of the public and MPs think that tackling the climate crisis should be the Government’s top priority, irrespective of the pandemic. There is only one direction of travel in the climate change debate but hitting the ambitious targets in a way that is affordable to the average person is our biggest challenge.
Submitting... Of the trick to staying visible without being able to get on stage in front of an audience, Bird explains: “We just did our best to be as active as possible on social media, constantly promoting to our fans and encouraging them to get behind us amidst the situation we’re all living through. People power can be a powerful tool which proved to be the case on this occasion. Mason Hill “We handle our own social media pages for the band,” he adds, “but never have we had to be so vigorous with it. It almost felt like a full-time job to ensure we stayed on top of everything and reply to everyone who gets involved with our pages.”
Remember the name Mason Hill, potentially the next big rock band to break and with good reason. U.K. audiences are already clued in as the band's Against the Wall album recently became the first rock debut album to crack the Top 20 of the U.K. charts since Greta Van Fleet arrived on the scene in 2018. They're also the first U.K. rock act to have debuted inside the Top 20 since Royal Blood did so back in 2014. So who are Mason Hill, how did they get here, why should they be on your radar and why are they here to stay? The roots of the band date back to their teen years when vocalist Scott Taylor and guitarist James Bird met in school in Scotland. By 2013, they started their band, adding drummer Craig McFetridge, bassist Matthew Ward and guitarist Marc Montgomery along the way.
