A Brief History of Mel Brooks, David Lynch, and The Elephant Man

A Brief History of Mel Brooks, David Lynch and 'The Elephant Man'
'The Elephant Man' is one of David Lynch's best movies. Did you know that Mel Brooks was the one who hired him to direct it?
Paramount Pictures
Brief History is a column that tells you all you need to know about your favorite — and not-so-favorite — pop culture topics. This entry tells the story of how Mel Brooks hired David Lynch to direct The Elephant Man.
His shirt was buttoned — always buttoned — at the top. His look was “kind of weird.” The man didn’t wear a tie. He said “a lot of ‘R’s, like a Midwestern kid.” He looked just like a young Charles Lindbergh. “I said to him, ‘You’re hired.’ I hired him right there.”

Another Movie Will Be Filmed In Buffalo Right After Paramount Pictures Leaves

Another Movie Will Be Filmed In Buffalo Right After Paramount Pictures Leaves
The talk the past week or two in Western New York is a Paramount Pictures movie that will be filmed in Buffalo between March and May. It's drawn the excitement of locals and there's even extras currently for the film.
However, that's not the only film crew that will be in Buffalo this year.
According to WIVB, Academy award-winning Producer Jonathan Sanger will be shooting a new feature immediately after the crew for Paramount Pictures leaves town.
If you remember, Buffalo-Niagara Film Commissioner Tim Clark said a few weeks ago that four new movies would be filmed in Western New York in the coming months.

'Cabrini' is set for production this spring - Philadelphia Weekly

‘Cabrini’ is set for production this spring
This new movie tells a remarkable story
The remarkable and largely unknown story of Francesca Cabrini, a poor, frail, yet strong-willed woman from Italy who changed the landscape of immigration, education, and health care for generations of immigrants to the United States, is about to become a movie.
“Cabrini,” which begins production this year and will be distributed via streaming services, will be shot in New York, and directed by Alejandro Monteverde and produced by Jonathan Sanger. Backers of the film have established a 501(c)(3) that will redistribute film revenues to charitable organizations.
