In a resounding rejection of the corporate media’s non-stop propaganda campaign, people in cities all across the United States participated in demonstrations July 24-26 to demand an end to the blockade of Cuba and all U.S. intervention. Organizers of the demonstrations argued that the hardships experienced by the Cuban people are the result of the six-decade-long economic war being waged on the country by the United States. They rejected the lie that the Cuban government is oppressive towards its people and expressed support for the Cuban revolution.
The actions coincided with the annual July 26 holiday, which commemorates the 1953 raid on the Moncada barracks led by Fidel Castro that sparked the revolution.

Cuban Americans remain hopeful, despite complicated political climate

Cuban Americans remain hopeful, despite complicated political climate
Lloyd Sowers reports
TAMPA, Fla. - In 2016 in Cuba, the Tampa Bay Rays played baseball against a Cuban team with President Barack Obama and Cuban leader Raul Castro in attendance.
Tampa resident Mario Nunez traveled to the game and remembers the hope it brought to Cuban people in and outside of the country.
"I’ve never seen a more hopeful group of people," says Nunez, the grandson of Cuban cigar workers of immigrated to Tampa. "There was love everywhere."
Back then, Nunez believed the decades-old Cuban embargo would soon end, but his view now is much different.

Protesters hold multiple rallies in West Palm Beach Sunday in support of people of Cuba

Protesters hold multiple rallies in West Palm Beach Sunday in support of people of Cuba
Three demonstrations were held in support of the people of Cuba throughout West Palm Beach on Sunday.
“I’m not honestly sure what would be the best course of action in terms of actually finding the result that we need but I know that we can’t just sit by,” said Ramon Alfonso, who lives in West Palm Beach.
While there were not as many demonstrators at this protest on Sunday as there were a week before, protesters say that's because some people have traveled to Washington or Miami, or participated in other demonstrations in West Palm Beach throughout the day.
