Abortion advocates and Democrats reacted with anger and fear to news that the Supreme Court would review a case directly challenging aspects of Roe v. Wade, warning that “reproductive rights are in danger.”
The Women’s March warned in a tweet that the upcoming Supreme Court case is “what conservatives across the country have been rushing to accomplish ever since Amy Coney Barrett joined the Supreme Court.”
“Reproductive rights are in danger,” the Women’s March tweeted. “We can’t let the GOP roll back our rights. It’s time to codify Roe v. Wade.” ....

The United States Supreme court has agreed to take up a major Mississippi abortion case that could directly challenge Roe v. Wade.
The court announced Monday that it will hear Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization beginning in October
and a decision on the case will likely come by June 2022, CNBC reported.
This will be the first major abortion case in which all three of former President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court justice appointees participate, including Justice Amy Coney Barrett, who gained a seat on the court after a contentious confirmation process in October. ....

Packing the Supreme Court: An Attempt to Stamp Out Religious Liberty?

Packing the Supreme Court: An Attempt to Stamp Out Religious Liberty?
Commentary
If Democrats succeed in packing the U.S. Supreme Court with progressives, as is their wont, what freedoms now protected by a conservative majority will they first try to cancel?
Gun ownership? “Deplorable” voices on social media? Citizen United’s free speech protections? So much to undo, so little time to do it, before losing control of government.
Here’s our guess: Religious liberty. The first right guaranteed by the Bill of Rights.
Why?
Because the court has issued a string of unambiguous decisions that guarantee religious liberty during the COVID-19 pandemic. They’re so clear and forceful that they deeply get under progressives’ skin. So upset was the notoriously liberal San Francisco-based Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals that it amazingly five times dared to defy the high court’s clear directives that the COVID-19 pandemic is not reason enough to tell the faith ....

Last night, President Trump announced his pick for Justice Kennedy’s seat on the Supreme Court. While much of the debate current centers around Roe vs. Wade, there are other issues to consider as well. For example, in this climate of anti-Second Amendment furor, how will that pick vote on matters pertaining to our right to keep and bear arms?
Kavanaugh, who has served on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit since 2006, dissentedfrom a 2011 decision in which a three-judge panel upheld the District of Columbia’s ban on so-called assault weapons and its requirement that all guns be registered. Kavanaugh disagreed with the majority’s use of “intermediate scrutiny,” saying an analysis “based on text, history, and tradition” is more consistent with the Supreme C ....

The 100th day of Joe Biden s presidency is tomorrow. Tonight, the president will address a joint session of (a few members of) Congress for the first time, but don t call it the State of the Union, because that s not what it is. That said, he s probably gonna say a lot of things about the actual state of the union, like he s been doing a bunch of work these past 99 days or something.
Truth be told, he really has done quite a lot. He passed an enormous COVID relief bill and he s blown past his original goals for getting America vaccinated, though he ll likely spend a good bit of time tonight encouraging all those Americans to get vaccinated who have so far been unwilling. (There are a lot of them.) ....
