The Western Sydney Wanderers will be heading into season X with plenty of expectations.
The previous nine years have been a rollercoaster for any fan wearing Red and Black, but the last four have been spent at the bottom of the ride.
No finals for the A-League team, a number of coaching changes and significant player turnover has hurt a club that is one of the most popular in Australia.

A-League 2021: Heat on coach Carl Robinson as Wellington Phoenix all but kill off Western Sydney Wanderers' finals hopes

Western Sydney Wanderers are bound for a fourth straight A-League season without finals after a poor 2-1 defeat to Wellington Phoenix that has dialled up the pressure on coach Carl Robinson.
The Wanderers remain a remote mathematical chance of finishing in the top six but will need a miracle for it to happen – and if came, they wouldn’t deserve it, having flunked yet another crucial test on Wednesday night at Bankwest Stadium.

Two first-half goals to Wellington, both conceded from corner kicks, continued Western Sydney’s diabolical handling of set pieces this season, further underlining the doubts over Robinson’s capacity to deliver the success he was brought to the club for.

Matchweek 15 wrapped up on Wednesday, April 7 after a six-day, nine-game football feast which began and concluded with Central Coast Mariners on top of the pile.
Sydney FC snuck into the top four after two Matchweek 15 wins over Melbourne Victory and Perth Glory. Melbourne City had the chance to overthrow the Mariners at the top but a 2-1 loss to Western United stopped Patrick Kisnorbo's side in their tracks. City did, however, respond well to defeat by edging Wellington Phoenix 3-2 on Monday night.
Macarthur FC dealt Perth the first of their two defeats for the Matchweek to go three games unbeaten - the Bulls now occupy third spot on the table.

The Socceroos sharpshooter scored in each half at Bankwest Stadium to give him a tally of 15 goals in14 games against Western Sydney.
City dominated the game despite losing their head coach and a key player in the leadup.
With Patrick Kisnorbo coming down with suspected food poisoning, assistant Des Buckingham took charge.
"We spoke to him (Kisnorbo) before the game... the message didn't change, it just came from a different person," Buckingham said.
Florin Berenguer pulled out after tweaking an ankle in the warm-up and was replaced by Naoki Tsubaki, while another influential player, Adrian Luna, missed the game with a hamstring niggle.

A bumper Matchweek 4 drew to a close with an abundance of A-League stars in contention for the Team of the Week, presented by Bunnings Warehouse.
Western Sydney Wanderers were the week's big winners, collecting four points following a 1-1  draw with rivals Sydney FC and a 1-0 win to end the Central Coast Mariners' perfect start, while Melbourne City claimed local bragging rights with a 2-1 triumph against Western United in another in-state feud on Saturday.
Macarthur FC made it back-to-back wins on the road, beating the rock bottom Newcastle Jets 2-1 in the Hunter, while Perth Glory wrapped up the round in dominant fashion in a thrilling 5-3 win against Adelaide United. But the question is which A-League aces make the up the all-star line-up?

Steve Corica backs Sydney FC strikers

Sydney FC coach Steve Corica says recent recruit Bobo is unlikely to play this month, but he trusts in fellow strikers Kosta Barbarouses and Trent Buhagiar. Buhagiar hit the woodwork in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Western Sydney Wanderers and went close on a couple of other occasions, but hasn’t hit the scoresheet in Sydney’s first […]

Wanderers boss Robinson lauds 'exceptional' academy gem

Western Sydney Wanderers coach Carl Robinson says he's not surprised by Thomas Aquilina's eye-catching start to A-League life.
The 19-year-old defender made just his second senior start at left wing-back for the Red and Black in Saturday night's 1-1 draw with rivals Sydney FC.
Aquilina had Socceroo Rhyan Grant and Anthony Caceres to contend with from his roaming position on the left flank but held his own impressively and almost sent Wanderers fans into raptures with a header that nearly broke the deadlock late on.
"It doesn't surprise me one bit," said Robinson when asked about the former Bossley Park High School junior's performance.
