The West Front of the U.S. Capitol is illuminated as the sun begins to rise before the 2021 Presidential Inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris at the U.S. Capitol.
Wednesday’s presidential inauguration ceremony featured a new fanfare composed by Florida State University graduate Kimberly K. Archer, a professor of composition at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.
Archer’s new fanfare is titled “Fanfare Politeia,” according to a release from her publishing company, Murphy Music Press in Cleveland.  ....

The appointments will fill the slots of three members who resigned since Nov. 30.
Tom McRae, who represented the 14th District, resigned Nov. 30 after being elected Circuit Clerk. Ray Wesley resigned his 6th District seat to serve as deputy circuit clerk.
Chrissy Dutton-Wiley resigned Dec. 18 because she married and moved out of the district.
Board Chairman Kurt Prenzler has recommended Valarie Doucleff for Wesley’s seat; Larry Meisenheimer to replace McRae; and Dana Brockman to fill Dutton-Wiley’s post.
All three of the positions must be filled by Republicans.

THE LATE REV. DR. MATILDA EELEEN GREENE DUNN
The Rev. Dr. Matilda E. G. Dunn died on Monday, January 4, 2021 at the family home in Silver Spring, Maryland after a long struggle with kidney disease and metastatic breast cancer. Matilda is predeceased by her parents, Judson H. Greene and Rachel Bing Greene, and her eldest brother, Nehemiah Greene.
An ordained Priest in the Episcopal Church, Matilda was born and raised in Greenville, Sinoe County, Liberia. As the only girl and youngest of four children, Matilda enjoyed a charmed position in her family. From a young age, she was affectionately called “G”, an abbreviation of her initials “M.E.G.”, which was a nickname given to her by her brother, Nehemiah. She soon was given another nickname by her nephew, McKinley Greene, Nehemiah’s first son, who was raised along with Matilda and her other two brothers, Rhonney and Judson. Since McKinley and Matilda were so close in age, McKinley thought she was his sister. But when ....
