(ABC 6 News) - Iowa lawmakers react to the protests in Washington D.C. and the evacuation of the U.S. Capitol building. 
Congress was holding a joint session to certify November s election results when the protesters descended on the Capitol. 
Standing with and praying for the brave men and women of the U.S. Capitol Police and all who have been endangered by the violence and unrest happening at our nation’s capital. This behavior is unacceptable and not who we are as Americans.

U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley was escorted out of the halls of Congress, and other members of Iowa’s delegation sheltered in place Wednesday as armed supporters of the outgoing president stormed the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to disrupt the peaceful transition of power to President-elect Joe Biden.
The chaotic scene erupted as supporters of Republican President Donald Trump marched on the Capitol, demonstrated outside its gates and eventually breached its walls, halting debate during a joint session of Congress. (WOWT) - Responding from Washington, D.C., Nebraska and Iowa lawmakers condemned the violence and described what it was like to watch the chaos unfold at the U.S. Capitol after protestors stormed the federal building while the joint session was debating the 2020 Electoral College results.
From inside locked offices and basements, lawmakers said on Zoom calls and over the phone Wednesday that they were shocked at what was happening.

PROTESTERS FORCED THEIR WAY INSIDE. CHRIS: WE TALKED TO CONGRESSWOMAN CINDY ASKED ME AS WELL AS CONGRESSWOMAN MARION AT MILLER MEEKS, JUST THREE WEEKS INTO HER TERM.
