HFPA President Ali Sar, Vice President Helen Hoehne and former president Meher Tatna took the stage to discuss the issue during the show, with short remarks admitting that the organization needs Black members and promising “a more inclusive future.”

Roku will add a fat stack of ad tech to its streaming platform under a deal to buy Nielsen’s Advanced Video Advertising business, putting Roku in position to offer a fully addressable advertising solution for TV programmers.
Under the agreement, announced Monday, Roku will obtain Nielsen’s video automatic content recognition (ACR) technology and dynamic ad insertion (DAI) system, which can replace ads in linear feeds with targeted, household-level spots on over-the-top streaming platforms. In addition, Nielsen and Roku are entering into a multiyear pact under which data from Roku’s platform will be incorporated into the forthcoming Nielsen One cross-media measurement solution. ....

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Saturday called for an independent review of allegations by a former aide that he sexually harassed her on the job. He denied the accusations, and said all of his staff would cooperate with the review, to be conducted by a retired federal judge that his office chose.
The aide, Charlotte Bennett, is the second to come forward since December to make such allegations. The New York Times reported her allegations Saturday, writing that Bennett, 25, said he made overtures about having a sexual relationship with her. ....

NBCUniversal extends US addressable footprint to 45MN homes

NBCUniversal has signed an advertising agreement with Charter Communications that will expand the former’s US household addressable footprint by nearly 40% to 45 million households.
The agreement enables NBCUniversal to sell addressable, dynamically inserted campaigns on its own inventory across Charter’s Spectrum platforms.
Explaining the reasons for the move , NBCUniversal said viewing habits had been evolving for some time now, and continue to accelerate towards on-demand and streaming platforms. It added that advertisers needed to meet viewers in the moment, and that was why NBCUniversal had been laser-focused on expanding its addressable capabilities.

ViacomCBS on Wednesday announced its beefed-up streaming service Paramount Plus, highlighting a dizzying mix of existing content, new shows and revivals of long-owned properties like the Seattle-set sitcom, in the latest bid by a media company to win streaming dollars.
This is a big day, a new day - a new beginning, said ViacomCBS chairman Shari Redstone, speaking from a virtual presentation on the Paramount lot in Los Angeles.
The company is betting that renaming and supercharging CBS All Access - its existing service -with a vast supply of new content will help it compete with Disney s Hulu, Comcast s Peacock, Warner Media s HBO Max and, to a lesser extent, Netflix and Disney Plus. ....
