This is going to be a big year for hospitality in Austin. In March, The Thompson announced its latest addition, the Thompson Austin, and its plans to open the hotel's doors in summer 2021. Located in the heart of downtown Austin's vibrant music and entertainment district, the Thompson Austin will bring an elevated hotel experience to the area, with thoughtfully designed guestrooms, suites, and residences, along with several distinct food and beverage concepts led by its culinary partners Mashama Bailey and Johno Morisano. Ever drift off to sleep on the train, subway, or in a cab and completely miss your stop? Don't worry, you're not the only one in the animal kingdom who gets a bit lost while catching some Zs. Earlier this month, a walrus was spotted on the western shore of Ireland, a very rare sight. So, how did it get there? According to experts, the animal likely fell asleep on an iceberg somewhere in the Arctic and floated to Ireland during its nap. walrus on ice Credit: Paul Souders/Getty Images "I'd say what happened is he fell asleep on an iceberg and drifted off and then he was gone too far, out into the mid-Atlantic or somewhere like that down off Greenland possibly," Kevin Flannery, director of Oceanworld Aquarium in Dingle, Co. Kerry, told the Irish Independent. "That is usually what happens... they fall asleep on an iceberg and get carried off from the Arctic."

Scottsdale just might be the best place for an outdoor, adventure-filled, socially distant getaway all year round. Few cities in the world offer such an abundant selection of outdoor activities so close to the urban center — 43% of Scottsdale's land area is dedicated as open space. Hikers, mountain bikers, and rock climbers love its desert landscape and mountainous terrain. Nature buffs and bird watchers appreciate the city's vast, undeveloped desert preserves and parks, where it's not uncommon to cross paths with a lizard, desert cottontail, or even a bald eagle. Even less-active outdoor lovers will appreciate the opportunity to simply take in the views at the natural oases or simply spend some time soaking up rays at expansive resort pools. And don't let the summer heat stop you from taking advantage of the city's incredible recreational activities. Many residents set their alarms for an early morning wake-up in the summer, when cool morning temperatures make a round of golf or morning bike ride not just bearable, but downright pleasant.

Credit: Joe Raedle/Getty As numbers of cases and deaths decline across the country, many people are tempted to let their guard down, so to speak, when it comes to using masks and social distancing to control the spread of the virus. According to Dr. Anthony Fauci, this can actually prolong the pandemic. "When you see a plateau at a level as high as 60,000 cases a day, that is a very vulnerable time to have a surge, to go back up. That's what exactly happened in Europe," Dr. Fauci told CNN on Sunday. "The younger people, particularly, stopped wearing masks. All of a sudden, you have a surge that went right back up."
