Highly transmissible coronavirus variant first found in California detected on UT campus
A highly transmissible coronavirus strain first detected in California has been identified on the University of Texas campus, officials said Monday.
This is the second coronavirus variant found on campus since a case of the United Kingdom variant was identified at the campus last month.
In an email Monday sent out to the university community, officials said they had detected a case of the new variant and were asking students to follow social distancing guidelines and get tested on campus. 
“To help prevent exporting or importing variants if traveling for spring break, and to prevent a surge in cases after spring break, it is critical that members of our community strictly follow public health measures,” officials wrote.  ....
