Beach Volleyball’s Season Comes to an End With a Loss to LSU
GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Florida State beach volleyball team (33-6) had their season come to an end on Saturday afternoon after losing 3-1 to LSU (27-8) in the second round of the loser’s bracket.
“The seniors on this team have been amazing,” said head coach Brooke Niles. “Molly becoming the winningest dual match player in school history, Torrey for coming to Tallahassee and taking a chance on our program and all of the other ones. They have pushed us every day and set a standard for our program that has helped create our culture. We have so many hard workers that we are proud to have worn our jersey.”

Beach Volleyball Earns No. 3 Seed for the NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship


TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State beach volleyball team will hold the No. 3 seed in the fifth edition of the NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship. Florida State opens the tournament against sixth-seeded Stanford on Friday, May 7 at 1:00 pm ET.
“We are so excited to just get this NCAA Tournament started and see the selections for the bracket,” said head coach Brooke Niles. “We can now really prepare for the teams in front of us and the first team is Stanford. Their assistant coach Angela Rock and I go way back. I played with their head coach, Andrew Fuller’s wife for a few years internationally and he actually coached us some. I think we are all really familiar with each other and they have great players and we have great players. It is going to be a really good battle. We are just really excited to get started.”

5-Peat!!! Florida State Beach Volleyball Wins its Fifth straight CCSA Title
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The third-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team (32-4) earned its fifth straight CCSA Title on Sunday afternoon with its second win over LSU (25-7) in two days, 3-2.
“I am super proud of our team,” said head coach Brooke Niles. “We knew LSU was going to come out strong and play use really tough. To come out like that and take every punch that was thrown at us and keep fighting on every court until the last point, I am really proud of them. To win the fifth straight conference title is unbelievable. We came here with a goal of winning and competing and we did a really good job of that this weekend.”

No. 2 Beach Volleyball Splits Two Matches With No. 1 USC


LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The second-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team (22-1) split their two matches with No. 1 USC (13-1) on Saturday at Merle Norman Stadium in Los Angeles. It was FSU’s second win over the number one ranked team in the country this season.
USC took the first match 4-1 but the Seminoles responded by winning the second match 3-2. Alaina Chacon and Molly McBain clinched the match in a third set on court one for the Garnet and Gold.
“I am so proud of our team and our resiliency,” said head coach Brooke Niles. “We came out this morning and didn’t play like ourselves. We were tentative and not focused on our game plans. I’m so proud of how we adjusted after a quick turnaround, especially after being down 0-2 again. We kept fighting and clawing our way to each point.”

GULF SHORES, Ala. – The second-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team (13-0) stayed unbeaten with three wins over ranked teams, No. 10 TCU, No. 11 Grand Canyon and No. 3 LSU.
“We battled today,” said head coach Brooke Niles. “There were a lot of ups and downs and we played some really tough teams but we never gave up and fought for every point. Our team showed a lot of character today and I’m so proud of them.”

Beach Plays Three Ranked Teams in March to May Weekend

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The second-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team (10-0) heads to Gulf Shores, Ala. this weekend to compete in the March to May event hosted by UAB. The Seminoles will play three matches against three ranked opponents, all on Saturday, March 13. FSU is a combined 25-1 against their opponents this weekend and enters the March to May event ranked No. 2 for the second straight week. This is the 10th time FSU has been ranked No. 2 in the AVCA rankings. The Seminoles have been ranked in the top-5 in 46 of the 52 AVCA top-20 rankings since beach volleyball became an NCAA sport in 2016. Florida State has been in the top-7 in all 52 polls. Florida State opens the weekend at 9 am EST against No. 10 TCU. Florida State is 8-0 all-time against TCU and 3-0 against the Horned Frogs at a neutral site. In their eight meetings, Florida State has only surrendered two courts to TCU. The Garnet and Gold take on No. 11 Grand Canyon at 12 pm EST. FSU is also undefeated against the Antelopes, with a perfect 6-0 record. Grand Canyon has taken at least one court against the Seminoles in all six of their meetings. FSU caps off play for the weekend at 5 pm EST against No. 3 LSU. Florida State is 11-1 all-time against the Tigers. The two teams met last week in a No. 1 vs. No. 2 match-up under the lights, resulting in a 4-1 FSU win. She is the program’s all-time leader in wins. 53 – Florida State is 53-2 all-time at home. 33 – Florida State is 33-3 all-time during opening weekend. 8 - Florida State has made it to all eight AVCA or NCAA Championship tournaments. They are one of two schools to have accomplished such feat. 4 - Florida State has won four straight CCSA Championships.
