TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State beach volleyball’s pairing of Torrey Van Winden and Keara Rutz were named Volleyball Magazine First Team All-American and Alaina Chacon and Maddie Anderson were named Second Team All-Americans. Torrey Van Winden and Keara Rutz combined to go 31-7 together in 2021 and were named AVCA Second Team All-Americans earlier this month. The 31 wins in one season are the sixth most wins for a pair in a season in FSU history, it also moved them into 10th all-time for most wins in a career as a pair at Florida State. The duo went 27-3 on court two and 4-4 on court one. They were named the AVCA National Pair of the Week and the CCSA Pair of the Week on March 9 after going 5-0 that weekend with ranked wins over No. 1 LSU, No. 11 FAU and No. 19 Georgia State, all on court two. May 12, 2021 Beach Volleyball has Four AVCA All-Americans TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State beach volleyball’s Alaina Chacon, Molly McBain, Keara Rutz and Torrey Van Winden were named AVCA Second-Team All-Americans on Wednesday. Alaina Chacon and Molly McBain played 29 matches together during the 2021 season, finishing with a 19-10 record and as the fourth winningest pair on the Seminoles this season. Their 19 wins together gave them 32 wins as a pair of the last two years, good for the eighth-most wins as a pair in program history. Chacon and McBain earned 17 wins on court one and two wins on court two. Together, Molly and Alaina earned 11 wins against ranked team, including wins over No. 8 LMU, No. 6 Cal Poly, No. 10 TCU and No. 1 USC on court one. ....

They have pushed us every day and set a standard for our program that has helped create our culture. We have so many hard workers that we are proud to have worn our jersey.” ....

It was a highly contested match across the board as three of the five courts went to three sets and only one set was won by more than five points. Florida State jumped out early to take three of the five first sets on courts two, four and five. Sara Putt and Raelyn White converted that into the only straight-set win of the afternoon for the Seminoles on court four. April 23, 2021 - by Bret Clein Beach advances to semifinals with a 4-1 win over South Carolina HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The third-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team (30-4) earned a 4-1 win over No. 17 South Carolina (22-8) on Friday night to advance to the semifinals of the CCSA Championship. The Seminoles jumped out to early leads on courts two through four turning all four of them into first sets wins. Court one was back and forth with Torrey Van Winden and Keara Rutz trailing 14-13. They went on to take the first set 21-16 after winning eight of the final 10 points. The second sets were a little bit closer but the Noles would win four of them to take a 4-0 lead.
