How 'devastated' Queen found comfort in Princess Margaret amid annus horribilis

How 'devastated' Queen found comfort in Princess Margaret amid annus horribilis

1992's annus horribilis had left the Queen so shaken that she was left "inconsolable".
According to royal biographer Andrew Morton, the aforementioned year was marred with months of crises which included part of Windsor Castle being burned down, Princess Diana’s tell-all and Prince Andrew’s divorce from Sarah Ferguson.
However, Morton writes in his book
Elizabeth & Margaret that the Queen found her strength in her sister Princess Margaret.
"Fortunately for Elizabeth, Margaret was there for her in 1992, the Queen’s annus horribilis. The worst year of the Queen’s reign began with the separation in March of the Duke and Duchess of York and continued with the divorce in April of her daughter Princess Anne from Captain Mark Phillips," he wrote.

"The saddest 20 minutes of my life."
That was Māori historian and former Waitangi Tribunal director Buddy Mikaere's opinion of his opponent's comments on the history of Aotearoa during a debate in Tauranga this week.
Mikaere debated Western Bay of Plenty District councillor Margaret Murray-Benge on Tuesday night on the subject of Māori representation in governance.

The extended cut of Margaret is the essential version

Margaret “extended cut” (2011)
“No good movie is too long,” Roger Ebert wrote long ago, “and no bad movie is short enough.” It’s definitely possible for a good movie to be too short, however. Case in point: the theatrically released cut of
Kenneth Lonergan’s long-awaited—and long-delayed—sophomore feature. Contractually obligated to deliver a movie running no more than two and a half hours, Lonergan spent some five years in the editing room (on and off) struggling to hit that arbitrary mark without debilitating his baby; the version that finally arrived in theaters runs precisely two hours, 29 minutes, and 53 seconds. It’s a masterful job, in hindsight, managing to preserve the contours of the wildly ambitious project that Lonergan had in mind. But

She has survived five heart attacks and went to Hawaii when she was 98, but she was not that keen on being interviewed for her local paper.
Margaret Cotton turned 100 yesterday but is quite clear about not believing she is old.
And that was about all she was willing to say on the matter, referring all questions after that to her daughter.
Ann Necaise, one of Cotton's two daughters, said her mother remained "very independent" and in relatively good health, although she steadfastly refused to get hearing aids.

Margaret, an 80-year-old retiree who lives near Tulsa, Okla., has spent the past year fearing the coronavirus. She's constantly worn masks, toted hand sanitizer and used drive-throughs to run her errands. Her age and preexisting health conditions - including heart failure, diabetes and blood clots- put her at elevated risk if she gets sick.
But unlike many at-risk Americans seeking safety and an end to the pandemic, Margaret refuses to get a coronavirus vaccine.
