Being the best player on an NBA team comes with a lot of perks.
You’re the starlet headliner of your squad’s enterprises — the celebrated face and namesake behind its most glorious feats.
You’re generally a well-protected commodity between the lines, and referees are oftentimes quicker to blow their whistle in your favor.
And more often than not, your on-court production will reap beneficial off-court dividends in the form of gaudy financial lump sums.
It’s quite the fanciful life.
But it doesn’t come without a tremendous amount of hard work — including carrying the brunt of your team’s praises or criticisms on your shoulders.

Watch Metallica's James Hetfield & Kirk Hammett shred "The Star-Spangled Banner" ahead of Warriors game - KBear 101

James Hetfield and
Kirk Hammett performed the national anthem before Monday night’s NBA game between the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers.
The pair called in virtually to play their shred-heavy, instrumental version of “The Star-Spangled Banner” alongside two amps decorated with the Warriors logo and the team’s “Strength in Numbers” slogan. You can watch the performance streaming now on YouTube.
While Monday’s game got off to a rocking start,
Steph Curry and the Warriors fell to
LeBron James‘ Lakers 128-97.
Hetfield and Hammett have played their version of the national anthem several times before for their hometown Warriors, including during the team’s run of Finals appearances in the 2010s. They’ve also performed it for a number of other Bay Area sports teams, including the San Francisco Giants baseball and San Jose Sharks hockey teams.

What:
Where: Staples Center
Listen: 98.7 FM
Believe me: this is a game that the Phoenix Suns have had circled on their calendar for a tremendously long time.
The team’s already made efficient work of several preeminent Eastern Conference foes, and as their upcoming schedule begins to shift Westward, their imminent face-off with Los Angeles may carry greater implications for them than any matchup they’ve taken part in thus far.
Big game on deck today.
There’s just a different aura that wafts about the arena of a defending NBA Champion, and when you combine that with the glitz, glam and tradition of the Staples Center (albeit absent of fans), it makes for one especially arousing basketball occasion.

The One NBA Game to Watch Every Night for the Rest of 2020

Tuesday, Dec. 22: Clippers at Lakers | 10 p.m. on TNT
This choice was a slam dunk: The defending champions open their season back in Los Angeles against their intracity rival.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis signed contract extensions in the offseason, and the Lakers added significantly to their supporting cast. Dennis Schroder, Wesley Matthews and Marc Gasol will all play key minutes in the rotation. But their biggest move hits right at the heart of this rivalry: Reigning Sixth Man of the Year Montrezl Harrell has switched allegiances, jumping from the Clippers' red and blue into the famous purple and gold.
