>> a halloween party that turned deadly. the reason the howard county executive is getting involved in the case. >> happy, jolly, playful little boy. >> the death of a toddler. why police are calling it murder. >> and a firefighter's protest. threason they hit the streets tonight. >> live in high definition, from wbff tv in baltimore, this is fox 45 news "late edition". >> hello, i am jennifer gilbert. >> and i am jeff barnd. tonight police zero in on the owners of a howard county house where gun fire erupted at a halloween party last weekend. >> two arrests made in connection with the shooting that left one man dead and another paralyzed. tonight kathleen cairns talks with the mother of the young man that is paralyzed. >> this is a photo of nathaniel quick and his mom in better days before, nathaniel was shot at the halloween party in columbia. >> we know he is paralyzed. from above the waist down. >> his mom doesn't want to show her face on camera. but tells us the bullet is still lodged near her son's aorta. remains in shock trauma. >> for him to walk again, it would be a miracle. >> when gun fire broke out at the party, 22-year-old aaron bryce was killed. police have charged 22-year-old devon dixon with murder. and 21-year-old dean schroyer as an accessory for driving the getaway car. neighbors want the homeowners held accountable for renting out the mansion for the party. >> there should be laws against people renting properties out for parties that they themselves do not control. >> we're looking at every available law on our books today, to find a way to go after the owners of the house. >> county officials are looking into possible violations. to zoning, health and fire codes on. and anything else. >> they are charging admission? was there amusement tax? far fetched as it might sound, we want to go after every angle possible. >> nathaniel credits he two strangers with saving his life during the chaos. >> this man, risked his life, and dragged my son, back to where his wife or his girlfriend were against the floor. and they stayed with nathaniel. he wants them to know he is so thankful. he feels they saved his. >> in howard county. kathleen cairns, fox 45 news "late edition". >> the accused shooter devon dixon appeared for a bail review from jail today. dixon told the judge he would not need a public defender that he plans to get his own attorney. no family or friend showed up in court on his behalf. >> we have breaking news in northeast baltimore tonight. police say a man was shot and killed while sitting inside of a car. it happened about 9:30 in the 2400 block of pickering drive. no word on temperature suspects or arrest. >> newspaper reporter from the uk covering crime right here in baltimore does not have to wait too long. 15 minutes, after arriving in town sunday. mark hughes covered a shooting on north milton and east baltimore. writes for the independent london newspaper. hughes is covering baltimore crimes because hbo the wire filmed in baltimore is popular in england. >> you do see very nice regions, you know, similar to every city. every city has bad areas. unfortunately the bad areas of baltimore were turned into a, you know, huge rating television show syndicated across the globe. and that's everyone's impression of baltimore. >> hughes requested a one-on-one interview with mayor sheila dixon, and police commissioner fred bealefield. so far, no luck. >> baltimore city police are investigating a string of rapes. five of the most recent happening over halloween weekend. police say there has been eight attacks that date back to, at least, october 20 when a man entered a home in the 1700 block of barclay street. he hid behind a crib then tied up and gaged a man. and sexually assaulted his girlfriend in front of him. five days later, another similar break in, in the 300 block of east lafayette. two blocks away from the barclay home. crimes have neighbors on edge. >> it was very disturbing. make me want to be aware of my surroundings. never know who is watching. >> police are calling those attacks isolated incidents. but believe the attacks at two bus stops over the weekend could be related. >> howard county police arrest more than a dozen people during an undercover prostitution sting. the latest sting resulted in 13 men being arrested and charged with solicitation of prostitution. it happened in jessup. officers conducted the operation saturday on halloween. the 13 suspects range in age from 21 to 56. they are all from either maryland or virginia. >> and essex man behind bars tonight accused of killing his girlfriend's 15 month old baby. karen parks joins us live from baltimore county police headquarters with the latest. karen? >> well, jennifer, 21-year-old brian savage is accused of killing for month old cameron justin williams. but jennifer, it is the story that he told that sealed fate. cameron's mother, patience peeton left for work 2:30 sunday afternoon. she left her son at home, in the 1400 block of has had wick drive in essex, in savage's care. a convicted felon he called 911 sunday night 9:30 saying cameron was not breathing. and later told police he and cameron was rough housing and rolled on top of the child while sleeping and the police did not buy it. and we spoke with the son's father. >> the autopsy turned up some pretty difficult symptoms. internal injuries, lung, spleen, liver, significant bruising and cuts. this child had been very badly abused. >> to see my son laying there, with his eyes open. and blood coming out of his nose breathless. >> tonight, savage is being charged with murder. he is being held at the baltimore county detention center. bail was denied. >> reporting live here at baltimore county police headquarters. karen parks fox 45 news "late edition". >> a pasadena man is serving 18 months behind bars for shaking his one month old daughter to death. the judge suspended the rest of a six year sentence for 3-year-old john wear rick and added five years probation. >> judge rules twins brothers that set fire to a pit bull in southwest baltimore will be tried as adults. traverse and germane both 17, charged with dousing the dog on on fire with gasoline. happened in may and phoenix was put down. >> 18-year-old man pleads guilty to unvoluntary manslaughter in the death of a grandmother. sentenced to a residential program in the juvenile justice system until she is 21. handy accused of contains the heart attack that killed her grandmother last year. two got in a fight that apparently caused the heart attack. >> the coast guard continues to search for a missing kayaker in anne arundel county. rescue teams were called about 4:30 this afternoon, when an empty kayak was spotted near the mouth of oyster creek north of the thomas point lighthouse. a paddle and life vest floating nearby. a boater reported seeing a man inside the kayak earlier today near the bay bridge. >> another developer offers a new site for slots. cordish company said the plan to break the deadlock over the proposed anne arundel mills slots parlor. buying 50 acres near the airport. site is part of a proposed arrow trop police. a development that could include housing and entertainment. >> well absolutely beautiful day today. guess what?
