cell phone. good morning, everyone. we'll start with the push to unify the republican party. donald trump and house speaker paul ryan inching closer to common ground. >> they are pledging to work together to beat hillary clinton but ryan is still not offering an endorsement, at least for now. abc's stephanie ramos is live with the latest. good morning. >> reporter: diane, good morning, kendis. well, the highly anticipated meeting between donald trump and house speaker paul ryan happened. now it looks like the republican party will try to work things out after a contentious primary. the ultimate boardroom meeting came and went. donald trump descending upon capitol hill after months of protesting against washington but now ready to bridge his views with top republican lawmakers. >> it was very good. it was very productive. >> the meeting taking place behind closed doors. no handshakes and still no endorsement from house speaker paul ryan. >> i was very encouraged with what i heard from donald trump today. i do believe that we are now planting the seeds to get ourselves unified. >> reporter: ryan has spoken out against one of trump's biggest campaign promises. >> a total and complete shutdown of muslims entering the united states. >> reporter: just one day before meeting ryan, trump reversing course. >> it's a temporary ban. it hasn't been called for yet. nobody's done it. this is just a suggestion until we find out what's going on. >> reporter: in the meeting talks of trade, supreme court justices, the debt, foreign policy, tax reform. >> i thought it was a great meeting. we had a -- we discussed a lot of very important things and i thought it was really a very, very good meeting. >> reporter: after awe full day on the hill trump praised ryan on fox news. >> we have a lot of things and i think for the most part we agree on a lot of different items and we're getting there. he's got not an easy job and i don't mind going through a little bit of a slow process. >> reporter: while on the democratic side hillary clinton tweeting good luck to the republican party on uniting behind trump. at the end of a meeting in brooklyn clinton declining to respond to the trump/ryan sit-down. bernie sanders choosing to weigh in. >> the republicans have to work out their differences. >> reporter: even with those differences trump and ryan say they see a chance to unite the gop or at least those folks at odds with trump. hillary clinton has her own difference with the pair calling trump a loose cannon. diane and kendis, back to you. >> should still be interesting to see how things play out in cleveland. stephanie, thank you. the secret service is also investigating donald trump's former butler over online death threats against president obama. anthony xenical posted one calling for the president to be killed. he took a job at his club and retired five years ago. the trump campaign say they completeathroom use and districts must allow students to use the bathroom and locker room consistent with their gender identity. the guidance does not impose any new legal requirements but is meant to clarify expectations of districts that receive federal funding. there's new fallout from the detention of u.s. sailors by iran earlier this year. their commander has been fired after the navy said it lost confidence in eric rash. the incident back in january raised tensions between the u.s. and iran after the video showed sailors on their knees with their hands behind their heads. more disciplinary actions are also likely. and a late last night. zimmerman wants to use some of the money to fight violence against police by black lives matter. two state troopers who took part in this violent arrest of a suspect in new england have been relieved of their duties while investigations move forward. one unidentified trooper is from massachusetts, the other new hampshire. the 50-year-old suspect reportedly almost collided with a police cruiser during another chase just days before he was arrested on wednesday. and brazil's new acting president michel temer is calling for unity amid political chaos. temer addressed the nation. rousseff is vowing to fight what she calls a coup. drug cocktails and bogus urine samples. a doctor admits providing them to russian least. this man tells "the new york times" it was part of russia's several dozen acres and is being allowed to burn overnight. okay, so rain is not going to help those fires today. clear skies straight up and down the west coast. on the other side of the country the radar showing a different story, storms stretching from southern alabama to upstate new york bringing rain to most of the eastern seaboard. still ahead, mark zuckerberg is breaking his silence amid routine throat procedure at a new york city clinic. her daughter accused doctors of performing an unauthorized biopsy taking selfies while her mother was unconscious and failing to notice her vital signs were plummeting and says the settlement allowed her to put the legal aspects of her mother's death behind her. there's been a second sign evacua cyberattack on a global bank. it targeted a commercial bank. not clear how much was taken. this comes as investigators are still trying to figure out who was behind an $81 million cyberheist from the federal reserve bank of new york. well, facebook is now fighting charges that it's trying to suppress conservative views on the site. thursday the social media mogul published a 28-page guide. the move claims -- comes amid claims that facebook's trending top picks features leans to the left and the company insists it follows principles consistent with facebook's commitment to being a platform for people of all viewpoints. mcdonald's says it's testing something new. fresh beef patties. the test is under way at 14 restaurants in dallas. it's too early to say whether fresh beef could replace its frozen patties nationally. they've apparently been resolved now and the tsa says it's cautiously optimistic that this morning's flights will go smoothly. in washington the head of the tsa was grilled by lawmakers about those long lines you see there at the nation's airports. some travelers being told to show up three hours before their domestic flights. the reason, more are traveling but the number of agents has stayed the same and then there's the $90,000 bonus paid to the head of the tsa operations before at administrator started. >> those were given to somebody who oversees a part of the operation that was in total failure. this didn't even necessarily happen during this administrator's watch. but we want to know what's being done to clean it up. >> i don't think it's right and i stopped that practice. >> well, the white house blames congress for those lines saying lawmakers didn't set aside enough money to hire more agents. a skydiving adventure in northern california didn't end exactly as planned. it crash landed upside down in a vineyard near lodi. the pilot tried to return to the airport but clearly didn't make it. now, the pilot got a bloody nose but believe it or not no one else on the plane was hurt. >> incredible there. terrifying scene in atlanta as a woman fights off two would-be carjackers and heads to her car immediately confronted by two men. she struggles with them and at one point one of the suspects points a gun at her. forgive them. police are searching for those suspects. some quick thinking overseas by a train conductor in poland may have saved lives. he ran through the train telling passengers to get down just as the train was about to collide with a truck on the tracks. no word of any injuries. the train was going more than 60 miles an hour when it struck that
