corner of 16th and monroe, that's in northeast d.c. and you can see right there, blocked the whole street. police closed off the entire area because that tree took down some power lines. they're telling us this will be an all-night clean up. and new at 11, the d.c. medical examiner's office has lost it's creditation. the chief lacks board certification. this is according to the washington examiner. she's been out of school too long to get it. now, this weakens the prosecution of criminal cases including homicides and drunken driving cases. new at 11, a military tanker jet crashed and taught for more than a decade accused her of touching her inappropriately. >> i was stunned. it took me many days to get a grasp of the actual accusation of one of my students coming forward and saying something like this. >> reporter: the man long praised by parents saw something else. >> i would get dirty looks. >> reporter: several nights in jail, stripped from his pay, league fees of more than $100,000, he refused to plea deal ann was cleared a year ago. but he was transferred to a different school this school year and then. >> i got destaffed which means the student enrolment will not support having as many teachers there, and i was placed by the county in what they call an overstaffed position. >> reporter: he wants the district to pay his legal fees, would hike some certainty about his career. >> my head swirls at times. the stress of dealing with day in, day out, and just knowing that it's not resolved and try to figure out why. >> reporter: but he remembers what he tells his team. >> i biggest lesson i told my kids is when you believe in yourself you will persevere. >> reporter: the school board transfers cases like this. when a school spokesman said there's more to this than meets the eye, we asked if there was any reason for parents to be concerned. if there's a problem with mr. lanigan. the spokesman said i don't think parents should be concerned. >> it seems jack johnson's guilty plea on corruption charges could end up taking his wife down with him. the documents released during his court hearing yesterday showed jack johnson and a cohort of developers planned to rely on leslie johnson to keep the racket going. she allegedly tried to hide and destroyed evidence as well. leslie johnson pled not guilty to obstruction of justice charges and she's still in office as a prince george's council member pending trial. we have good news and some bad news for metro riders tonight. the bad is the number of thefts is on the rise compared to last year. the number of violent crimes like robbery and rape is down. some folks don't feel any safer. >> reporter: a manhunt, multiple bullet holes and casings, a metro station shooting on a palm sunday. it may have been a month ago but recent enough. and one of the reasons why people like kathy henderson are putting the chief on the spot. it may appear like a dull community meeting but people here are armed with dramatic stories of metro crimes. >> because we see crime that happens every day. >> reporter: james wheeler should know. he and fellow guardian angels work the metro. he says the crime can happen any time and any way. take four incidents over the last months. on may 5th a man is shot in the leg in a metro station. it was on a thursday in the evening. on april 27th at the brooklyn metro station, a neighbor is robbed at gunpoint a wednesday afternoon. six days before that on april 21st, four females approach a woman leaving the metro station. they beat her, though her to the ground, rob her. it was thursday at 9:15 in the morning. and then one month ago yesterday, two men are shot outside the shaw howard university metro stop. it was 2:30 in the afternoon on a sunday. which brings us back to this scene. one of many that chief taborn says is near a station not on metro grounds. >> you are a lot safer in the metro system that you are walking the streets of any jurisdiction. >> reporter: still, he says more collaboration with other police departments is needed. it's not passing the buck, he says, it's sharing the load. >> so then let's talk metro police manpower. they have 450 officers but they have to cover a 1500 square mile territory plus 150 feet of property that's outside every metro station. a ride to school ended with a trip to the hospital for five kids after a dog attacked them on the school bus. this all happened this morning along windbrook drive in maryland. an american bulldog came up to them at the bus stop. when the bus came the dog hopped on board and lashed out at children leaving five of them with bites, bruises, and scrapes. >> he was trying to bite everybody. kept running back and forth, doing this. >> i didn't know what to do. i was, like, one running through running through the car. >> reporter: police arrived and were forced to shot and kill the dog. when the dog got on the bus, he was simply overwhelmed by the attention. they will have to do a test to see if that animal had rabies. dc officials have announced the standardized test results from three classrooms are unvalid from cheating. this follows an investigation by the dc state's superintendent office an investigated prompted by concerns about widespread cheating. we spoke with the state superintendent. >> there is no evidence that we have that indicates that there is widespread cheating in d.c. ps. >> now, this was all about the 2010 test scores. some personnel had to be terminated, new tighter security guide lines are if place for the 2011 testing -- in place for the 2011 testing and that scores are out early next month. celebrity police escorts are not allowed in the district. unless it's bill gates and jz. that's according to records obtained by the associated press. they got escorts from dc police officers. the police were reimburrsed. this came under investigation after charlie sheen got an escort to a performance at constitution hall. for the last four months congresswoman gabrielle giffords has been wearing a helmet hike this one except hers is adorned with theards state flag. a portion of her skull was removed to releave the pressure on her brain and she needed the helmet for protection. they attached a hard plastic implant under the skin today which matches the piece of bone that had be cut away. >> a huge and credentials. he linked that website to as many other websites as possible to improve their chances of being at the top of the page when beckle's name was googled. the key is getting the negative articles off the first two pages of google searchs. it took a few months but beckle's online reputation has been rehabilitated. >> they made it better. >> reporter: he says he'll never forget what he pretty good rainfall, more than 2 inches per hour and lexington park has moderate rain and good storms over the bay as well. widen out a little bit and put this into motion, where will these storms go in the next hour. rumble of thunder across southern maryland and also parts of the eastern shore as the storms move off to the north at about 20 miles an hour. again, going to hold together pretty well, too. the red is intense. moving due north over the bay. flash flood watch is in effect until midnight. we have flash flood warnings past midnight. wet commute for some of us, not all of us, but for some of us. more sun tomorrow, that's good. that will lead to nor thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow evening. not quite as widespread or severe. but 6:15, more clouds, showers north and west of town. showers come back at lunchtime. if you don't see showers in the morning, you will have showers by lunchtime and by evening we'll have some areas that have wet roads on the way home. good news, light green to dark green which is light activity so nothing crazy heavy tomorrow which is very good. by friday, we see showers down to the south of us and down to the west which is good. we dry
