>> five. four, three. two, one. >> alan: the countdown to the end of the world that never came. despite a religious leader's prediction that gained worldwide attention. good evening. the deadline for the rapture came and went today but not without an audience. harold camping predicted the end of days would happen in the bay area at 6:00 p.m. tomas roman has been at his place today. >> reporter: more than two dozen people gathered here at his radio station to tell camping what they thought of him and his dooms saying. ♪ >> reporter: a sort of a carnival here at family radio's oakland stationle the parking lot was filled today with christians, dancers, protesters, and those who just wanted to make noise. most were here, they said to call harold camping's prophecy a chance. >> we're here because brother camping specifically blames gay pride for the end of the world. so we're here to say, don't think so. >> reporter: the calvary church was more forgiving. >> even though i'm a christian, i make mistakes all the time. >> it will be the beginning of judgment day and it will begin wherever the calendar says may 21. >> reporter: he is a family radio listener and came to camping's home today to give him some tea. camping was last seen by neighbors this more than and not sifnls tom says he has not lost faith in camping or his teachings. >> i didn't lose the confidence of family radio nor father camping. i still believe the end times very close. >> four. three. two. one. >> reporter: those gathered here cheered and jeered when the deadline passed. and launched anatomically correct dahls into the air mimicking the rapture. >> harold camping followers that will be very depressed tomorrow are welcome at our church, and we'll show them love. >> reporter: today, before the crowd gathered. kelly and keith bauer stopped by family radio. they came from maryland as a pilgrimage to oakland for the rapture. >> i was hoping. i'm not disappointed. if it doesn't, i have no regregz. it's going to happen when it's going to happen. >> reporter: it didn't happen today. we tried to reach harold camping to fine out why not. we tried calling him and knocking on his doors but his house was shut up tight, and many people wanted to find out where, when, and how mr. camping would admit to his latest dooms daying mistake. >> alan: a harold camping has received a lot of attention since his rapture campaign took off. here's a little background. he served as an elder and sunday school teacher at alameda bible fellowship in 1978 he purchased an fm radio station to broadcast christian gospel. over time his nonprofit bought six additional fm stations and seven other am stations. it wasn't exactly the apocalypses, but a small earthquake rattled parts of the east bay. the magnitude 3.6 quake struck two miles south of hercules and eight miles north of berk lee. there's no reports of damage or injuries. we asked viewers on tweeter if they felt the quick. john main wrote, i did feel the quake. it was quite brief over here at richmond pinole border. and on our abc-7 facebook page, lisa wrote, in oakland's montclair area, and i felt it of the. it was a big hard jolt like a semi hit the house. >> andowy wrote, felt it near ben niesha. b.a.r.t. falled its standard procedures and stopped the trains for a short time. that stoppage gave b.a.r.t. workers a chance to check the system for other damage and problems. things started rolling again in minutes once it was determined there was no damage. in livermore, three people ended up in the hospital with severe burns after an explosion and fire inside an apartment. it happened around 5:15 in an apartment on sim very oaks way. neighbors say their windows shook and their floors rumbled. the police call the fire as suspicion. the victims, two men and a woman, were airlifted to hospitals in san jose and sacramento. >> a masked man is still on the loose after he not away with more than $10,000 in cash. police say he robbed the pacific precious metal store in mill valley around 10:00 this morning. officers say the robber, wearing a black mask and white surgical gloves, pulled a gun and demand cash. >> the business was open. the suspect name the business. with his handgun, and i'm assume demanded the money. there's no audio. there's only video. so, that's all we can talk about at this point. >> alan: officers and sheriff's deputies searched the area near the store form almost two hours but failed to find the man. the store's surveillance camera might help them identified the robber. >> the crowded field for republican presidential nominees is getting even more crowded. tim pawlenty is expected to announce he is running, too. here's more on the story from washington. >> reporter: paul while he awaits trial on sexual assault charges. he is under 24 hour guard at the empire building building in lowt tap. his neighbors said they would never have known he was there if it weren't for the media frenzy outside the building. >> i thought they were filming a movie. when i left the building, we were really bombarded with the press, and i had no idea. we had no idea. the residents really did not. >> alan: a judge ordered strauss-kahn to wear a monitoring bracelet on his ankle, and an armed guard is watching him at all times. he has been charged with sexually attacking a maid in headed to lake tahoe. highway 50 has re-opened. the main highway when the bay area and south lake tahoe was closed for nearly two weeks while crews raised the height of some rock wall barriers. this 11th. the former site of san francisco supervisors harvey milk's camera store will open as a suicide crisis center tomorrow. the store will open as a call center for the trevor project, nonprofit that provides crisis intervention to lgtb youth. david chu will attend the unveiling. also in atten dance will be members of milk's inner circle. in the 70s, milk used the store for his campaign headquarters and took calls from lgbting you. >> sansan jose's vietnamese community unveiled a sign today welcoming the world to little saigon. private donations paid for the sign, naming the area little saigon. ignited a controversy four years ago. a council member opposed the idea and suggested calling it the saigon business district. that sparked a recall campaign led by compiles exiles of the low clouds move in overnight. a gray start at the coast for sunday morning, and then look for mid-day clearing. a breezy afternoon, a cooler day tomorrow as temperatures drop, and we'll continue frontal system that will help to increase the sea breeze tomorrow afternoon and look for temperatures to drop a few degrees. still going to be a nice afternoon, although a bit on the breezy side. lows, mid-to-upper 60s for san jose. at the coast, we'll deal with that touch and go overcast throughout much of your afternoon hours. breezy conditions as well. half moon bay, 58. inland, palo alto,
