and his longtime love. we ll have all the latest news on the royals coming up, too. before we get to all that, let s get a check of the headlines. for that we say good morning to msnbc s willie geist. which wi willie, good morning. good morning, matt. good to be with you, this morning. ntana clear across to ohio today. one day after a tornado ripped through billings, montana. it tore the roof off a sports arena and damaged several other businesses. in wyoming there were six reports of tornadoes on sunday but no reports of serious injuries. a wildfire that started sunday near flagstaff, arizona, is now so big that federal officials are taking control of the battle to contain it. hundreds of homes were evacuated u.s. route 89 to grand canyon national park was closed. bp says it has now spent $2 billion in the 63 days since the massive oil spill off the coast of louisiana. the embattled company says it has paid out more than $100 million in claims so far. police in oregon are hoping for new leads in their search for 7-year-old kyron horman missing now for more than two weeks. nbc s miguel almaguera is in portland. miguel, good morning. reporter: willie, good morning. sunday, father s day, was an especially difficult one for kyron s family, but this morning it s his mother who is crying out to her son. 7-year-old kyron horman was last seen at school 17 days ago. his mother, who hasn t made a public statement, has now released a letter to nbc news that she wrote to her son. dear kyron, i am so sorry that this happened. i m sorry that i was not there to protect you. i will never be able to forgive myself for being so many hours away when you needed me the most. now in its third week, once massive search efforts have been scaled back but kyron s mother holds out hope. i pray that you come back to me because i m afraid i can t live without you. i miss you every second of every day. i would give my life for you. i just want you back safe. you must come back to us. kyron s parents are both divorced and remarried. he was dropped off at school by his stepmom when he went missing, but a week after he disappeared his mother and stepmom were side-by-side as his father asked for help in finding kyron. please help us bring kyron home. reporter: in a statement to nbc news, kyron s mother says of the divorce, we did what was right for our family and for kyron specifically. we are a united family working together for a mutual goal and that is to bring kyron home safe and sound. kyron s stepmom, terri horman, who hasn t spoken publicly, is now pictured on a flyer released by detectives. since investigators say she is the last person to see kyron they hope the flyers and questionnaire will generate new leads. meanwhile, sources say kyron s stepmom has taken two polygraph tests. i want people to know that she is a good person. she s a devoted mother and has always been at school volunteering, you know, just very active in his life and she s a great person. reporter: a case generating national attention. let s give this family some answers tonight. reporter: saturday kyron was featured on america s most wanted and his photo was on the cover of people magazine. but it s the words of a mother s letter that hit home. when you come home, i will show you all the things that everyone did for you, just to find you. i would give anything to run my fingers through your short hair again. i miss having you to hug anytime i want. i love you very much. momma. while the search for kyron has been scaled back, it does continue. the sheriff s department says this case will not go cold. willie? miguel, thank you so much. just heartbreaking. we appreciate the report. well, on a much, much lighter note, it is the first day of summer and thousands of people marked today s summer solstice, the longest day of the year, by greeting the sunrise at britain s ancient stonehenge monument. it is six minutes past the hour right now. we ll turn back to matt and natalie outside. guys, i can guarantee you there were plenty of pints drunk overnight at stonehenge. and by the way in northern ireland because, of course, their guy won the u.s. open. so it s a big day there as well. willie, thank you very much. we appreciate it. let s get a check of the weather once again. al roker as you saw in san francisco for lend a hand. hey, guys, thank you. as we lower than over the weekend. mosely sunday as the everybody is so excited. everybody at target. we appreciate it. it s an honor. natalie. all right, al, thank you. this weekend it was the tale of two royals, prince harry is back on the market while a swedish princess marries her prince charming. dawna friesen is at buckingham palace. good morning. reporter: good morning. it was billed as the biggest royal wedding since charles and diana. sweden s crown princess victoria wed her longtime boyfriend and it happened on the same weekend that news emerged britain s prince harry has split up with his long-term girlfriend. as royal weddings go, this one in sweden was stunning. 32-year-old princess victoria led down the aisle of stock holm s cathedral by her father. she wed her longtime boyfriend and former personal trainer daniel westling. a slightly nerve-racking moment especially for him. their relationship initially raised eyebrows in sweden because he is a commoner, the son of a farmer, he met victoria at the gym. but after a solid eight-year relationship, her family and the country have grown to accept him. you ve got to be able to choose your own love in life, i think. it s accepted in these modern monarchies. reporter: but tradition reigned at their wedding. the two rode by barge to the palace where the king presented the newlyweds to the people. then it was on to a lavish banquet for 1,000 guests. a picture perfect wedding, something victoria s siblings have yet to pull off. her sister, madeline, just called off her wedding after her fiance cheated on her, and her brother, carl phillip, who loves racing cars, dumped his long-term fiancee for a reality tv star. romantic trouble has hit britain s royals, too. it s reported britain s prince harry has split from chelsy davy whose family lives in africa. she wants to be closer to her parents and doesn t want to be a kate middleton waiting around for her prince. i don t think she s ready to get married yet and so this is, i think, essentially a moment where they ve decided or she s decided enough is enough. reporter: their six-year relationship has been volatile and they ve split up before. but with harry, who just finished a trip to africa with his brother which wiilliam, com to his army duties and she intent on pursuing a career as a lawyer, this split may be final. the chances are harry will now become the hottest young bachelor probably in the world really. so he won t be short of female company and he certainly won t be short of girls throwing themselves at him. reporter: today is that other british prince s birthday, prince william. he turns 28 today. that s the age he always said he would consider getting married, so will he? well, everyone, including kate middleton, is still waiting. prince william is apparently going to spend the day at work continuing his training as a search and rescue helicopter pilot. natalie? dawna friesen at buckingham palace, thank you so much. turns out she was right again. that s just one of seven things you can do every day to turn back the clock. here to tell us about them, court any smith of prevention magazine. good morning, courtney. good morning. i am disheartened, confused by this list. the first one, cutting all the fat from your diet. i thought i was supposed to cut out the fat and now you re telling me not to. i can t win. we ve heard fat is hard on our heart and weight gain. bad fats, saturated fats and transfats. there are good fats like omega-3 and fish, you don t want to lose those. omega-3s are the ultimate anti-aging heart that keep your brain sharp and skin moist and supple and monounsaturated fatty acids, another fat you don t want to lose, nuts, avocado and olive oil help to protect your heart and are linked to a longer life span. keep the fish but lose the sweets. this one i could have predicted. exactly. experts believe eating too much sugar contributes to wrinkles. the sugar binds the proteins in our bloodstream and forms harmful molecules that damage collagen and elastin, the springy fibers in our skin that hold it up and keep it firm. so once they re damaged, they become dry and brittle and it leads to wrinkles and sagging. so what you want to look for are added sugars and packaged foods and sweetened beverages. the average woman needs to keep 160 calories of sugars. staying below that will help your skin. that is the amount in one 12-ounce can of coca-cola. so one coke a day. and then stop to help your skin. fair enough. i thought this one was really interesting. get together with your friends. sounds simple but it s actually evidenced it helps you stay young. there s great evidence. it actually saves your life. having close friendships more closely predicts your longevity than having strong family ties. and it may buy you extra years and those extra years may also be healthier because friends protect against obesity and heart disease. so as we get older we cut out that social time with friends in our calendar because we get so busy but you have to keep it on there. use facebook and e-mail to connect as well. fascinating. what about this one, staying up past your bedtime? i have trouble with this one. everybody does. you know what, we know that it immediately makes us look tired, which also makes us look older, but lack of sleep ages us on the inside as well. sleep deprivation is linked to more weight gain, diabetes, and a high blood pressure. these are all problems that we re more prone to as we age and they will slow you down so the bottom line is make sleep a priority. most of us need seven to eight hours. use this as motivation to get some. and stress we all have stress in our lives. what is it doing to age us? stress increases certain hormones in our bloodstream and these hormones tax the body and, again, slow it down so it delays wound healing, it increases your blood pressure again, and, also, it may even shrink areas of the brain that are linked to memory and learning and mood. so, again, you know what, you can t stop stress but you can keep these hormones under control by doing deep breathing twice a day. it s a very simple quick fix. simple enough. and one more before we let you go, blasting your ipod. this is a tough one. the good song comes on, you turn it up, you re not thinking about long-term impact. it s true but hearing loss nothing will make you feel 80 than having to cup your ear and say, what did you say? it is the impact of loud music over time. so the best thing you can do is just be conscious to keep the volume below 50% if you can because some ipods will blast out. noise cancellation head sets that will block out the background noise. it s a great investment to protect your hearing. courtney, thanks so much. reverse the aging process. your seven simple steps. thank you for being here. thank you for having me. coming up, if you dream it, do it. taking small steps to make big dreams come true. and later former l.a. law star harry hamlin. can harbor allergens like dust mite debris, pollen particles and pet dander, which can trigger allergic reactions. now, lysol is approved to control allergens on surfaces, to help protect your family. lysol disinfecting wipes remove 90% of allergens. and, lysol disinfectant spray kills the source of mold allergens. control allergens and kill germs with lysol - the #1 pediatrician recommended brand. sfx: car crashing this is onstar. i ve received a signal you ve been in a crash. i ll contact emergency services. haha, here already?
