cvs pharmacy in l'enfant plaza where he used the debit card and pin number of a victim in the bethesda home invasion wednesday morning. in that attack police say a masked gunman sexually assaulted a housekeeper,-tied up the homeowner and her teenage son. >> very bad because we feel very safe about the area of. reporter: in the bethesda neighborhood today off cedar lane near nih there remains a real sense of unease about what happened here. >> oh, we've always taken protection of our home. we take it very seriously. this is a good peaceful quiet neighborhood. we're not foolish. >> it's just a reminder always have your doors locked. this is a street where we leave our doors open literally open, not just unlocked. we just don't do that. reporter: in the wheaton case tuesday morning in this community of military housing, we're now learning the victim was holding her baby when the masked gunman confronted her in her garage taking her debit card and pin number, escaping in the woman's car. police say this is the same man wanted for both crews. >> if you recognize the face, if you're not 100% sure but you think you know this person, contact montgomery county police, give us the information you have so we can do our best to get the person off the street of. reporter: in the meantime we're told by targets of the masked gunman were visited by home security. >> there were some adt people out reminding people what happened yesterday and asking if they need extra help. >> they're so quick they know how to play on people's fears, yeah, yeah. reporter: and yes, at the scene of tuesday's attack in wheaton there's a new adt security sign in front of that victim's home. at montgomery county police headquarters in rockville, bob barnard, fox 5 news. new tonight tense moments during a police standoff in montgomery county. the s.w.a.t. team swarmed a house on edgewood road and kensington. it began when officers tried to serve an arrest warrant for armed robbery. the man refused to come out, then cut off communication with police. once the s.w.a.t. team showed up he apparently changed his mind and surrendered peacefully. also new tonight a giant gathering of friends and family remembering a teenager gunned down for his shoes. david lee robinson was waiting bus stop on 58th street northeast early sunday morning. an suv pulled up announcing the stickup. there was gunfire. robinson was killed. his son is due this spring, so far no arrests. police are looking for the car involved, a small silver or gray suv with broken glass and bullet holes. new developments in a big story getting worldwide attention. the pentagon says it's made progress in figuring out who was involved in the shocking video that appears to show u.s. marines urinating on dead taliban fighters. meantime the white house is trying to gain just how bad fallout from the video will be. fox 5's tom fitzgerald has the story. reporter: an official with the united states marine corps says two of the four marines shown in a video urinating on four dead taliban fighters have been identified. they were attached to the third battalion second marines that returned home to north carolina last fall. the obama administration meanwhile is trying to assess the damage. >> is it absolutely inconsistent with american values. reporter: secretary of state hillary clinton echoed a statement by defense secretary leon panetta promising punishment for those involved. >> anyone found to have or known about it, having engaged in such conduct must be held fully accountable. reporter: at the u.s. marine corps memorial reaction ranged from disappointment to disgust. >> the american military, makes it kind of embarrassing when you're married to a service member that wouldn't do something like that. >> i'm a little disappointed. i think that the image that the marines and all the military do for our country shows a level of respect. reporter: but the fallout involves more than just bad taste. paraamerican groups say the marines' actions are in direct offense to muslim customs. >> i think it's very disrespectful. regardless race or religion the deceased person is due the respect they're due. reporter: this retired military lawyer says the taliban could use the incident now as a recruiting tool. >> they make the enemy fight harder and fight longer. they it were the civilian populous against -- they turn the civilian populous against the troops and america. reporter: but moving forward the question is whether the bad actions of four marines will delay thousands of u.s. troops from being able to leave afghanistan for good. tom fitzgerald, fox 5 news. we're learning more details about another story, l.a. county sheriff's deputies tried to restrain an irate homeless woman monday night on a city bus. video shows the woman cursing at the deputies holding her with both hand as down when the male deputy suddenly punched her in the face. the man who captured the encounter on the cell phone said the woman was hit after calling the deputy a big shot. >> it turned my stomach. you just don't swing and sock somebody in the face like that. i think that's real uncalled for. they got windy was videotaping it -- wind i was videotaping it and pulled me and my fiancee to the side and said don't go anywhere. >> the incident is under investigation. >> the fox 5 storm force tracking potential trouble, talking more rain with some snow mixed in. gary mcgrady with an update. >> i don't think the snow is a big, big deal just so everybody knows. there may be a dusting on some places, a little coating on other places north and west of the metro. the newest guidance suggests at least some of that this changeover to snow may be sneaking down farther south than perhaps it was showing the last several runs, just something to keep in mind. real quickly over to sentinel radar, the rain and i say rain because it is way too warm for any kind of snow now, hagerstown, that's moderate rain just to the west through washington county out towards berkeley springs there where 70 becomes basically 68 and heads out to western maryland there, and then the bigger picture of this storm is pretty impressive with snow coming in and the cold air. look at the numbers, 51 and holding in town, manassas 54, even up in hagerstown where they're getting rain it's only 45. winchester is 50. so again way too warm. a lot of snow back in the cold air and again, a brief potential changeover to some snow tomorrow morning. i'll show you when and where we might get a little accumulation, full forecast coming up. local and federal leaders want the occupy d.c. camp shut down. laura evans is everywhere at 11:00. >> this follows reports of rats at the camp at mcpherson square and obviously health concerns. mayor gray and the national park service suggests mcpherson protesters move to freedom plaza till the rat problem can be cleaned up. occupy d.c. has been at mcpherson square since october. both sides are on park service land. the head of a nonprofit in d.c. that deals with kids and sports is charged in connection with former d.c. councilman's harry thomas, jr.'s money scheme. court documents say marshall banks knew thomas was taking grant money and didn't report it. banks is due in court tomorrow morning. the felony charge carries a maximum of three years in prison. a suspect arrested in a bank bomb scare in arkansas. paul bradley broke into an elderly couple's home earlier this week and forced 73-year- old betty davis to try to withdraw money from a bank as she wore on her ankle what she thought was a bank. police id-ed bradley through surveillance tape captured at a hardware store as he bought the duct tape used to tie up mr. davis. shining a light on the gulf between the rich and the poor in america, what's creating the widening wealth gap? we're crunching new numbers and received some interesting answers. later an about your neighbor's? a survey that's been going around for years has some people giving some interesting responses lately about how they feel about money and wealth. fox 5's beth parker has the story. reporter: are you tiffany's or target? and what's the middle ground? >> i feel like the gap has a widened, that there's a lot more have notes thans have and not as many in -- than have's and not as many in between. reporter: a new research survey finds americans are changing. 66 of those questioned believes there is a strong or very strong conflict between rich and poor. >> i wouldn't say conflict, but i believe that there is a divide. reporter: when pew asked people about the potential sources of conflict in american society, young versus old, black versus white, rich versus poor, immigrant versus native, most people now say rich versus poor is the greatest divide. at community barbershop in northeast d.c. they've seen a lot of change over 50 years. >> i think that the middle class is rapidly evaporating to the point where they will become the new working poor. reporter: the census bureau says the rich are getting a bigger slice of the pie. in 2005 the richest 10% of americans held about half or 49% of the wealth in this country. in just a few years time their slice has jumped to 56%. >> i feel like our nation was built on a sense of democracy and capitalism. so i feel like it's kind of expected of. reporter: some attribute the change to vocal protest. others say unemployment creates the divide. >> i work in the staffing industry and so i see a lot of very talented people who don't have a job, don't have a way to provide for their families. reporter: back at the barbershop we told them one thing that hasn't changed much in the survey is that when asked how the rich got rich, most people say they inherited all that doe. >> they got it from the family. well, there's different ways of getting rich. >> yeah. you take from the poor and become rich. snap that's right. right on through this holiday weekend it is going to be cold out there. it's not cold now. it's darned near short sleeved weather this evening as temperatures hover in the 50s for just about everyone. speaking of the 50s, how nice was that today with that sunshine? we had the rain overnight, of course, some places with that picked up as much as an inch, most places about 3/4-inch. but today's high temperatures ahead of the big, well, arc being it plunge that's coming for this tomorrow -- arctic plunge that's coming for this tomorrow and the weekend, 57 reagan national a, 59 dulles, bwi marshall 57 today. now the cold air a returns and i think basically that's really -- air returns and i think basically that's really the big story. tomorrow i think there will be times when combined with the colder temperatures and win it's going to take your breath -- wind it's going to take your breath away, sustained winds tomorrow 15 to 30 miles per hour and easily could have gusts tomorrow afternoon and evening approaching, if not exceeding, 40 miles per hour. highest of those gusts will be in the higher elevations out to the west. there's the rain now for hagerstown, all up along 81 there getting some light rain, winchester and front royal dry, but winchester is going just west and northwest of you the heaviest of that, but look how quickly this fills into snow. you jump the mountains here and that's where the cold air is now. we don't have much of a transitional area, that pink. we get that usually but not in this case. it quickly goes over to all snow. i think that will pretty much be the case tonight for a lot of us. the range will change oh to light snow. now there's the -- over to light snow. now there's the possibility -- don't get excited -- like accumulation to the north and to the northwest. here in town 35. the roads are real warm, so not too terribly worried about that. 45 hagerstown, 48 martinsburg, everybody else right around 50 degrees. here's the cold stuff, though, columbus 20, chicago 21. it's going to get even colder. that's just the leading em of that cold air. it will nine -- edge of that cold air. it will sneak in here. this is futurecast. at midnight we're dry. we bring the rain in at 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. and look at the quick little changeover here. by tomorrow morning this is a distant memory. we're all dry. the sun will come out. we'll be windy, though, much colder, highs tomorrow in the upper 30s and lower 40s. i think if there's a chan of any type of coat -- chance of any type of coating, it should be for frederick county, maybe a little dusting in northern loudoun company and potentially 1/2-inch to an inch along i-81 and back west. heaviest accumulations will be the higher elevations in virginia, west virginia and maryland. tomorrow keep in mind much colder with a lot of wind, too. we stay cold through this holiday weekend. we start warming up again next week with showers on tuesday. throw it since october 18th and his second shutout of the season. the caps moved up to eighth place in the eastern conference standings. >> i'm glad we won. it's nice to i could chip in and win a game when we
