russian soldiers poised for this offensive, more than a thousand tanks prepared by the russians, heavy artillery and so forth. i think this has to be taken very seriously. >> ukraine's president zelenskyy traveling this week, meeting with european leaders and he had a familiar message. listen. >> translator: ukraine needs artillery guns, shells for them, modern tanks, long range missiles and modern aviation. i am grateful to everyone who provides such assistance. we have to enhance our dynamics of our cooperation. we have to do it faster than the aggressor. >> he said they need to replenish military supplies faster than russia. i know you've been a big advocate of the kind of air arsenal they have been requesting. they want planes. do you still feel that way? and do you feel like they are able to get what they need fast

troops. they send them forward, they rush the ukrainian positions. there are reports of some of them being armed with nothing but grenades. and when the wagner group is behind them and sees where the ukrainians are, then the wagner group brings fire on the ukrainians. they're willing to accept the slaughter of these soldiers. putin is certainly willing to do that. it might work for a while. but the real issue here, fredricka, is we haven't supported ukraine with the kind of artillery it needs to win a battle and drive this back. no matter how much technology we have, how precise they are, it's still a problem of just the number of artillery, the amount of ammunition provided, and they're behind. we've got to do more, and this is a critical window to do that. >> i know you've said in the past that you believe doing more is also -- it also means more air arsenal, more air support from the u.s. to ukraine. >> yes.

and it is an essential part of the ukrainian war effort, absolutely. >> turkey is a nato ally, so why is it not complicated for turkey because there have been other nato nations that have said it's a little too complicated to provide air arsenal? >> well, i think one simple answer to that, and there are a lot of other answers, but i think one simple answer to that, fredricka, is that it's an unmanned aerial vehicle. that's the key element. a mig 29 is a manned aircraft, and there's a bit of a difference in the way people look at that, whether it's on our side or on the russian side. and that is i think one of the key elements. so the turks are getting away with it because of that, at least up until now, but more russian soldiers are killed, you know, using that drone, the less likely the russians are to look okay with that. >> european officials are

excellent reporting from karl there. they're probably going to start looking for him right now. this is the same thing that would have happened -- let's talk about bowe bergdahl when he went missing. immediately everything stops and everyone goes into a search and recovery mode to try to find this guy. you'll see increased drone activity, more commando activity because the best chance of getting him back is getting him back quickly. once they have him for any length of time, they're going to move him to somewhere secure and then we'll probably see some proof of life or video or something later. now is the critical time. if they're going to get him, they're going to get him now. we'll see a flurry of activity. as far as the long-term goal of the israelis, i don't think it will change much. they're committed to going in there and rooting out the rockets and the tunnels. so we've got two things going on right now. >> but this does mean that israel's likely to cease, stop its air arsenal while it would be searching for its soldier. >> maybe, maybe not.

air arsenal? has it likely moved that into iran? what is it doing about moving a lot of these potential targets? >> fred, that is the question right now. clearly assad may be a monster, but he's not an idiot. he's a very clever man. he's a survivalist. i would anticipate that all of his aircraft have flown to iran. they're probably positioned out of harm's way. he probably has taken all of his command and control capabilities, all his communications networks, all his computer networks, and he's shut those down so he has essentially gone to black intentionally. so it's harder for us to find him. then what's inside those stockpiles as we addressed have probably been moved and what's inside those facilities that will be struck have been packaged up and disbursed as well. >> all right, major general james "spider" marks, thank you for your time. appreciate it. what happened to all of those kids missing at a florida
